Size 18/20 And Man It's Amazing!

Mar 27, 2009

A few friends and I went out after a local support group meeting the other night and I just thought I would document how far I have come. The outfit is a size 18/20 and I began in a size 34/36 so man that progress is amazing to me! For once I can shop in a normal store, not a specialty store and that feeling is amazing.  My knees don't hurt anymore and I am doing way more with my kids then I did before surgery -ie, rodeo and the rides at rodeo, walking and taking them to the park without dreading it. This is an amazing tool! I will update more later on... thanks for reading!

Just wanted to say thank you to Sarah for helping me get the side by side pictures as I am not very good when it comes to that sort of thing -- I appreciate all of your technical expertise and friendship! You rock! Thanks again!

Stall Is Broken !!!

Mar 22, 2009

Finally I was able to break that awful stall. The scale hadn't moved in I think two weeks. I quit weighing myself daily as that was really starting to get depressing. I weighed last Sunday and again today although tomorrow is the official day --- and low and behold I am down another 6lbs -- Today that makes it a total of 147lbs since my highest weight of 412 at consultation with my pcp to talk about the surgery and my options and man that is a great feeling, no really that is amazing !!! Honestly I think that it has to do with all the walking that I did this week. We went to the rodeo twice and I went walking with my mom and Sadie (her dog) as well as taking kids to the park and me walking while they played. Healthier eating choices and eating more this week might have actually helped as well. Go figure that Dr. Davis was right and I wasn't eating enough. Man he knows his stuff... right??

Well vitamin results came back and seems I am not absorbing enough so they are upping my vitamins and will take another set of labs in thirty days and see if the levels are back up to normal so everyone pray for me that they are normal again -- this tired all the time feeling sucks but I am not letting it stop me, you suck it up and keep on trucking ! I won't ever go back to 412lbs again. Think that with all the problems that I had with strictures (which are now fixed thanks to Garth --Robert was out of town the last time it happened) that my body was just in a vitamin defecit and now they are being replinished. We are being cautious and hopefully upping them will help.  So rock on peeps ...rock on !!!

The next big milestone for me will come up shortly and I will definitely post when I have lost a total of 150lbs since my consultation with my PCP. It is amazing to me. I had lost almost 40-50lbs before meeting with Robert as I had to wait a WHILE for an appointment -- I guess to get the best it was worth waiting for.  So look for a post next week hopefully that I have broken the 150lbs mark! I can't wait !!!  My tickler of weight loss only shows the weight that I have lost since surgery day. I need to update my signature line to reflect that other weight too as that was really hard to loose on my own but proud that I did it.

Rodeo Houston !!!

Mar 10, 2009

Tonight my son Matthew (11), my mother, dad and myself went to see Toby Keith and here are a few of the NSV that I experienced tonight -- I must say that I am proud of every one of them:

1) I walked all the way from the truck to the tram and then the tram to the building and not once did I have to stop and rest, and I wasn't the last one either. I was able to keep up with my mother which is something that I have NEVER been able to do heavy! WOW !!!

2) Eating - I was smart and drank my water as for what I ate well I had a little bit of a baked potato. What I am most proud of is that my son had a funnel cake and GOD knows that I love funnel cake, what's not to love right it is fried with sugar on it - I mean aren't those two important food groups? ha ha... Well I didn't have any and I was proud for not wanting it. Didn't look as good to me as thin feels.

3.) Gates - This year I was able to go in a regular gate you know the ones with the turnstyles and I didn't even have to go in sideways like before. Man what a feeling!

Well off to bed as it is almost 1:00 am and I have to go to work tomorrow but I just thought that I would share an amazing night!!

4 MONTHS OUT AND AMAZING I TELL YOU !!!!

Mar 07, 2009

Well here it is month #4.  This month has held some incredible firsts for me:

1.) I am now in a size 22 jeans instead of a 30/32 or 34/36 which makes shopping easier and the ability to find prettier things much more of a reality.

2.) I am attending support group meetings regularly, which helps me to stay motivated and on task.

3.) I am beginning today to log in my food daily and exercise daily on
www.thedailyplate.com so that I am accountable for my actions and can stay on track with my daily food intake.

4.) I went to the movies and sat in a normal seat and didn't feel like I was a can of biscuits and could explode out of the seat at any minute. That was the coolest feeling that I have felt in a long time.

This is an awesome journey and I can honestly say that if I had to I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. While this was a tough decision for me to have my surgery it was the best decision that I have ever made for ME.  I am continually amazed at all the wonderful people that I have met here and thru my support groups. Some of these people will be friends for life !!! I am honored to have met you and to share in your journies.  Rock on peeps, Rock On!!!
