Afraid to go to sleep

Jan 28, 2010

I had something happen the other night that totally freaked me out.  I had come home and was really tired and was asleep probably about 8 pm.  I had only slept about an hour and a half the night before.  Anyway, I woke up sometime in the middle of the night, couldn't tell you what time it was, but I was just sweating profusely and was extremely hot.  It felt to me like my sugar had dropped and I knew I had to get something to eat, but couldn't think of what.  Went to the fridge and the only thing I could grab was some cold meat - ham and turkey.  Like I said - I couldn't think.  I was just really confused.  I made it to the couch and took one bite of the meat and passed out.  I don't know how long I was out - not too long I don't think.  When  came to I was still holding the meat and I hadn't swallowed what was in my mouth.  It was kind of comical, though to wake up and have 3 cats nibbling on the meat I was holding.  Anyway, that happened 4 times - the passing out and coming back.  I guess eventually something must have hit because I fell asleep sitting there.  I know it was my sugar but this has never happened before and now I am really freaking out.  I don't want this to happen again - the low sugar or the passing out.  I was told I should have drank some juice, but I couldn't think of it, and there is a big container of juice in the fridge that I almost never touch.  Would it be good to eat a snack before bed that has some protein in it and what would anyone suggest.  This really freaked me out and I'm nervous about going to sleep at night.  Any suggestions would be great.  Thanks!
Dawn
