Moving the block

I think one of the greatest thrills in an overweight person's life is when you get on the scale and can move the "big block" weight DOWN!  Now I can start sliding the little one mapping my progress!  I'm at my lowest in 15 years, and it's getting more encouraging.  I quit weighing daily, as that was depressing, but weekly seems to help me see results.

I'm getting better at tolerating enough fluids, but I still have not gotten to the 75 gms of protein yet.  I try to minimize the carbs, but they're in with the protein, and I need to do less carbs.  

This is the last week of school for my children, so it'll be a busy schedule.  I'm trying to go to the wellness center/gym more than twice a week.  I want to get them enrolled after school is out so we all can go.  I know they'll enjoy the pool & jacuzzi, but I want all of us to get healthy in our lifestyle.

Water Exercising

I'm still having a lot of pain in my left knee, and the doctor suggested I stop the treadmill, as that is too much impact on my knee, and do more water exercises and biking.  I tried the recumbant bike, but after 3 minutes, I had to stop as it really hurt.  The nu-step seems to help the most, and I'm building up my stamina.  I did 14 minutes this afternoon along with the strengthening exercises.  I had hoped that my knee pain would ease as I lose weight, but that hasn't happened yet.

It's nice to have formerly tight clothes feel loose.  I guess I should re-measure, but haven't yet.  The weight dropped quickly at first, but now that it's slower coming off, I'm getting a little impatient!  I know it takes time, but I just have to keep my focus! 



Happy Mother's Day

This is the least I've weighed since my "baby" was born in 1993.  What a great Mother's Day gift to myself!  It's nice having people notice that I'm shrinking!  The only "bad" I'm experiencing is that I'm losing in places I'd rather not lose as quickly(like in my bra), and my belly is the last place that's getting smaller!  I've been trying to do target exercises to firm and tone and lose more of my mid-section, but I know it takes time.  That's my "instant-gratification-generation" showing!

Heading in to work a few hours for a co-worker that needs to leave early, and I can always use a few extra $ in my paycheck, so I'd better get my uniform on.  I'll need some new scrub pants soon...mine are getting way too baggy!  YEAH!  What a feeling!

Looking forward to church tomorrow: my mom going with me and my family to church.  I picked a beautiful corsage for her and took in to her today.  I picked up some roses today to make corsages for my kids to wear.  Johnny is taking us out for lunch tomorrow afterwards.  It'll be a great chance to have some updated pictures taken of me.

5 weeks out

I'm down ~50#....in 5 weeks!  I've noticed a lot of roominess in my clothes, and it's nice being able to get back into clothes I've not been able to wear for several years.  It's nice getting compliments and encouragement from folks I don't see every day!  My only disappointment is that I'm still having quite a bit of pain in my left knee.  I had really hoped that would get better.  I've been exercising at the wellness center 2-3 days a week, and doing water aerobics as well, and that really helps my stamina.  

I'm eating pretty much whatever I want, but the nice thing is, I don't "crave" junk like I used to.  If I want a couple of chips, I eat them slowly, and have not had a problem.  Just enough to avoid the "deprived" feelings I used to experience.  I still have to drink slowly or it feels like it gets "stuck" and makes be feel bad.  Sometimes I just want to gulp a drink of water 'cause I'm thirsty, but can't do that.

Looking forward to my 10-week check-up; hope to be down another 25-30# by then; the weigh is coming off slower than it did at first, but I'm feeling better and will need to re-measure soon to check how many inches I've lost.
