Hair loss

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced major hair loss and when it stops. Every morning when I brush my hair, its coming out in like 5 strand blobs. The Dr. said to take Biotin but that doesn't seem to be helping. I don't have patches of baldness but it has thinned soo much. My hair used to be really thick. Any suggestions? Thanks.
