Jan 2 2004- Today was my surgery and I am not feeling to well I weighed in at 298#. I am wondering what have I done. But I have waited a long time for this. My 12 year old daughter told me today that I have taken the easy way out. I told her if it is so easy why am I so sick.
Feb 2 2004- This isn't as easy as everyone thinks it is actually very hard. And I am still wondering why I did this. I weighed at 260#. I have no pain but alot of vomiting. I am off all of my medications now that is a big plus.
March 2 2004- I now have more energy and started excersing and I weighed in at 235#. I think I am glad that I had this done. If I had it to do again I would in a NY minute.
April 2 2004 I weighed 225# today the weight is starting to slow done. I hope I can continue to be successful at this. I have so much energy I don't know what to do with it all.
May 2 2004- I weigh 207# today. You go girl. I went and got a few new cloths for the summer months. It is so hard to believe that I can fit in a XL. It seems so long ago for that size.
I am going to Kennywood this Saturday and I am going to ride all the rides. It has been along time for that I was embarrsed not to fit and then having to get off in front of everyone. I plan on having loads of fun.
June 2 2004 I now weigh 195#. I am walking about 3-4 miles a day and swimming.
July 1 2004- I went for my 6mths post op appt. I weigh 187#. All my blood work is good. I will have more blood work done in 3 mths and see the Dr in Jan for my 1 year visit. He told me my ideal weight is 151#. I now am walking 4 miles everyday and every other day I walk 8 miles. I am having so much fun with my girls who say I am like the energizer bunny keep going and going and going. I am going to start looking for a plastic surgeron that way I can have tummy tuck and breast lift this winter while I can heal. I also told the Dr I think I may become a vegatarian since no meat seems to agree with me. Current BMI is 28.4............
August 2, 2004_ Today is my 7mth mark. I weigh 181#. I am feeling pretty good. I have hurt my hip a few days ago from jogging(I guess that wasn't a good idea after 3 back surgeries). So I haven't been able to even take a walk. Today I even ate 6 (small)pieces of steak for dinner and didn't get sick. Maybe I won't become a vegaterian after all. Current BMI is 27.5.........I hope to be at goal my the holiday's....

I went and seen Barbara Thompson on Wednesday evening with a few friends. She was great. I got by book autographed and even got a few pictures taken with her. CHECK OUT THESE PHOTOS. I would suggest to everyone if your thinking of surgery or post op. If you get a chance go and see her, GO. Today I weighed in at 174# with a BMI of 26.5.
My daughters had a ortho appt this morning and I ran into a few rude dental employees. That are not at all educated in gastric by-pass surgery. If I didn't know any different I would think very badly of this surgery. The one lady weighed about 300# just like the rest of us at one point in time. The other two were skinny. There were saying things that people had to be desperate to have this surgery. That so many people die from this surgery. It is the reason insurance deductables are rising so rapidly. They had no clue that I had this surgery and apperently didn't remember me
Sept 2- 174#
Oct 2- 172#
November 3, 2004 I have been feeling really good. I currently weigh 165#. With a BMI of 25.1 I am almost of normal weight. All of my labs have been really good.
Dec 2- #162
Jan 2- #167 Oh I guess I ate to much over the holidays. And lack of excerise with being so busy. I will be making time for myself. I did purchase a family membership at YMCA. Workouts start tommorrow. I never thought I would be dieting a year later. I will tell you this much this was the best full year of my life. Check out the new photo.
Jan 26-#164 I have a Dr.'s appt Friday with Dr. Ramanthan. I went and got my lab results to take to him. By B12 levels are real high. I get a injection 1x mth so I'm not sure and I am not sure of the rest. I suppose I will find out on Friday. I have been really feeling good. I pray all is well. I still haven't heard from Dr. Rubins office about my insurance approval for tummy tuck. If I don't hear by Monday I will be calling them.
Feb 4- 164#- I went to the Dr.s for my 1 yr appt. He told me with my b 12 levels I only need to get the shot once every other month. And that I need to take my calcium pills 3 x a day since my PTH(I think that is what he called them) level is up to 77. That is when your body takes the calcium out of your bones. He also told me I need to lose 10-15 more pounds. So that in 2 years when I gain my 10% back I will be where I am at now. I really need to start wathching what I am eating. I would never of thought 1 year ago I would be saying this. I still feel really good. I still haven't heard from Dr. Rubins office(plastic surgeron) about my tt. I will be giving them a call next week. Dr Ramanthan also told me to keep a before picture handy (hang on fridg, keep in car, etc) then when I want to snack look at it, that doesn't seem like a bad idea.
March 28- Well I still weigh 165-164#. I excerise and excerise to no more weight loss. But I must say I do eat everything I am sure that is why I haven't lost my last 10-15# the Dr would like me to lose. I am scheduled for my tummy tuck on April 14th and my insurance is covering it. After that I will start dieting again to finish losing.
April 22-Tummy tuck has been cancelled. Because my husband got laid off in December and we have been paying our cobra payment beacuse I was approved for the tummy tuck. But his employer is having financial diffucilty and need to spend our last 2 months preimum that we paid so I find out the day before surgery that we have no insurance. I freaked out.....The owner of the comapny told me"your fat ass should have lost weight naturally and you wouldn't have this problem" this put me over the edge. I have been so upset. I qualify for a medical card but I am sure it will not cover this. I still weigh 165#. I am going to try very hard to lose this last 10-15# that way I will be at the perfect weight for surgery.

Sorry it has been so long since I have updated. I did have my tummy tuck on June 16th at Magee Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh. I am very happy with the results so far. I still have little swelling. I had surgery on Thursday the 16th and went back to work on Tuesday the 21st. Yea I know just a few days off. I will tell you i was discharged from the hospital Friday morning. And I took no pain meds from the time I was home. The first week it was very hard to stand and I could not sleep. I had 2 JP drains one was removed on Tuesday the 21st and the second one was removed on Thursday the 23rd. The Dr said they removed 7-8 # I have seen a difference in the scale I now weigh 161# and feel great. I now can wear skirts and feel comfortable. And you can't see that buldge. I will put before and after photos on my photo page. I also started attending a new support group at my local hospital.

Well summer is almost over. I currently weigh 164# yes I did put a few pounds back on after the tummy tuck. I am very happy with the results. Myself and my 3 daughters went to the beach and I wore a 2 piece bathing suit and looked good in it. I had no pain with my tummy tuck. A little about the support group at my local hospital. We have meetings every Monday(which I can't make them all). It is very informative and the leader is great. I have been so busy over the summer, I really haven't been excerising as I should. I have been still getting somekind of workout. Until next time.
