3 year Surgiversary

Mar 13, 2010

Yesterday I celebrated the 3rd year of my new life post bariatric surgery.  While the last year has been trying as I find I am able to eat more food, both quantity and quality, i.e., sugar, I work the tool every day and still say this was the best decision I ever made for myself.  I still have pictures out of myself pre-surgery so I can remind myself of what I used to look like and refuse to get back there again.

Every time I think, "oh I'll have another piece of something" I look down and see how thin I am and go find something else to do besides eat.  I've become very active and workout on a very regular and intense basis and am looking forward to getting back to playing tennis this summer.  Would have done it last summer, but that was the summer of healing after my first round of plastic surgery (BL/BA and TT).

Don't get me wrong, now that I can eat almost anything I want, I have to consistently make the right choices and I don't always do that.  But I always pay the price too - still.  Which is a good reminder when I think I might like whatever it was again.

I'm thankful to my surgeon Dr. Alan Brader for giving me the tool that helped change my life and I'm so pleased and proud of myself for continuing to be successful.
