Real Talk & New Recipe

Jan 06, 2013

I feel like these last 43 lbs I have to go are going to be the hardest to lose!

Getting back to basics includes Planning!!!! I noticed that it is the honest truth that if you don't plan, you’re planning to fail and you will.

My problem with trying to find new things to cook is what I have in my cabinet and I am not a chef. I hate having to spend lots of money for a bunch of ingredients I won’t use a whole lot of.

I found this book at Barnes and Nobles it don’t have a whole lot of Bariatric recipes in it but found some high protein recipes I am going to try and use substitutes for whatever I can. The recipe is for Sesame Chicken!!

I started off with a half recipe and saved the leftovers for future meals. I also did some substitutes. The brown sugar with Splenda and instead of Sesame Oil, I toasted Sesame seeds in Olive Oil cooking spray.

Sesame Chicken

1 Tsp    Fressh Giner or ¼ Tsp dried ginger

¼          Cup light Soy Sauce

2 Tbsp   Sherry

1 Tbsp   Brown Sugar (Sugar Substitute)

2 Tbsp   Sesame Oil (Olive Oil Cooking Spray and Sesame Seeds Substitute)

              Sesame Seeds

16         Skinned Chicken Legs

Preheat Oven to 350 degrees. In a small bowl combine first four ingredients and set aside. Heat pan with cooking spray (it should be very hot) in large skillet and quickly brown sesame seeds, then add chicken and brown turning once.

Place in a sprayed 13x9 baking dish. Bake 15 minutes. Baste with sauce. Continue baking 15 minutes or until cooked through basting every 5 minutes.
