My New Life

Jan 10, 2010

Okay so here I go...
My New Life officially starts Monday, 1/11/09 @ 5:30am.

In July of this year, I've made the decision to have bariatric surgery. I really want the Gastric Sleeve, which in my opinion is a more natural route compared to the lap band (where they put a foreign object in you FOREVER) or the Gastric Bypass (where they cut your stomach and reattach it your lower intestine, bypassing the upper intestines). The sleeve is a simple removal of most of the stomach pouch. The only problem is that the Sleeve is a newer procedure on the West Coast, so my insurance might not cover it. If they don't, my next option is the bypass. So with this decision for major surgery, comes many more decisions about how I need to begin my healthy life.

So Monday 1/11/09 @5:30am, my life has completely changed. No more breakfast burritos from CJ's, or Big Mac Meals from McDonalds. I'm only eating 800 to 1200 calories a day; removing bread, rice, pastas, tortillas and all of those things that are the very best type of food. After my surgery all of those things will be forbidden because of the fact that they're hard to break down and they expand in your stomach. (Not great when your stomach is the size of 1/4 of a cup.

So I plan on updating my thoughts and feelings on here, because I need an outlet. I'm sure I've bored my friends and family enough with it... well in Cyber world it's all good, you can either choose to read it or not.

So here's the first step in becoming a healthier me, not a better one, or sexier one, because if anyone really knows me, they know I don't hate myself for being fat. I actually think I'm pretty damn sexy and I know I'm beautiful. I just need to get healthier. For the sake of my family, my future family, and for me. I don't want to be another obit... "the girl that ate herself to death."

So here's to my new life, and health. It's going to be a long ride but it's going to be a good one.

Starting weight from today... 341. But damn, don't I look good! LOL

So far the last year, with giving up sodas, I've managed to keep off 14lbs. So here to many many more.
