One Week Out :)

Aug 17, 2010

So my surgery was last Tuesday. Everything went so well. I didn't feel anxious or scared I was READY! They wheeled me into the OR and that's the last thing I remember. I was so tired.

My surgery started at 8a, I was done by 11, out of recovery by 1pm and up and walking by 1:45p! I told those nurses " Help me up, i'm walking!" It was the best thing I could do for myself. I wanted that pain out of my shoulder. I was in the hospital Tuesday, Wednesday and released Thursday. They took very good care of me and I went home with a wealth of knowledge and some really good pain pills! lol.

I've been doing great with eating. My surgeon's first week is all (mostly clear) liquids. Sugar free popsicles, sugar free jello, water, Crystal Lute, etc. That was the easy part!

My JP drain started to hurt early on Sunday so I paged the Dr and he called me right back. Set up an appt for Monday and ended up taking it out for me. He also advanced my diet after looking over my notes about what I'd been eating and how well I was doing.

I can now take my multiviamins, protein shakes, sugar free pudding, and cream of wheat (skipping that one! lol)

I am so excited. I feel like I am doing well and I'm proud of myself. I lost 9.5 pounds since surgery. Go me :)
