Surgeon Testimonial

Craig L. Floch
My first impression of Dr. Floch was that he seemed to be a very caring individual that was genuinely concerned for my health and that wanted to help me regain a healthy weight and lifestyle. I became aware of the great staff that his office had and how knowledgable and up-to-date he was on all the latest procedures and how much he wanted to ensure the success of each patient. During my pre-op stage he had people in his office that helped through the entire pre-op process, they did not simply give me a list of things that I needed to do, but were there to answer any and all of my questions. I would recommend this surgeon and his team because I felt confident as in my decision of having chosen Farfield Bariatrics and would never doubt that decision.

So thankful, one year later~
on November 30, 2008 4:53 pm
I began this journey one year ago, on Wednesday, November 20th, 2007- the day before Thanksgiving. In some ways I know beat myself up because I know that I should be so much closer to my ultimate goal than I am. But on the other hand I look back to where I was and do see growth. I am still struggling with my food demons, primarily in the form of sweets. I am also struggling with balancing a new job with exercise and eating and sleeping properly, but I am beginning to feel as though I am making headway in that area. I still have a long way to go, and I know that with God's help I will and can overcome my issues with food and my dependency on certain things. Looking at it from a brighter perspective, a year ago: I had acid reflux, now it's gone, wore a size 20/22, but am now wearing a 16, had an irregular mentrual cycle, I now have a normal one, without meds! I also had a BMI of 43 which is now down to 35. As I said before, I know I have a long way to go, but I am thankful for the blessings that have already taken place in my life.

Hugs!
Dee :)

I am so excited to tell you all that I weighed myself this morning and the scale read 198.4!!!!!I am soooooooooo excited!!!!! I have waiting for this moment for years and with the stall that I had had, wondered if it would ever happen! But it has! I have been doing WW, and I got the Wii Fit and have been using it every day and really enjoy it! I am so happy about the progress I am making towards my ultimate goal! Hope all is going well with all of you!

I'm back in the game!
on August 20, 2008 12:59 pm
Hey everybody! I have not blogged for some time, and I can say that I am finally say I am back in the game. I have recommitted to my band and do believe that this tool will help me achieve my goals. I had gone through some rough emotional spots and I truly did not care about my band, or my health or MY EATING! I had never felt like this before, I have been a person that has always believed in the power of prayer and had always found ways to push through difficult situations, but this time I just couldn't. Then one Sunday in church a few weeks ago I laid my life down before the Lord completely, and said Lord, fix me, I can't do this on my own. And I honestly left church feeling new, completely ready to undertake this task. One of my OH friends, Monica, who has always been such an inspiration for me in my weight loss journey, had mentioned in a few of her blogs that she followed the Weight Watcher points system to keep her on track. I talked with my husband about doing the online WW program, and he encouraged me to try it and see if it would work for me. I started on Sunday and weighed in that morning at 209 and weighed myself today and was 207.6! I think that this may be exactly what I needed to get this weight off and am happy to be back in the game!

Hugs!

When will I get the right fill?!?
on June 28, 2008 9:49 am
So I went in on Thursday and had an appointment with Danielle and I was up a pound and I hadn't a fill in over a month so to be up a pound was upsetting to say the least. But I have gone through a rough spot emotionally lately and was honest with Danielle about that and was honest about the fact that I hadn't been exercising. I am having trouble with lots of foods, fish, chicken, even tuna fish. So Danielle decided that maybe I was too tight and took a little more out.  She told me she thinks I am not getting enough food in and that that may be what is stalling my weight loss. I pray to God that this will be the solution! I was able to eat more yesterday than I have been able to in a while. I stopped myself when I knew I had eaten around a cup of food, but I was so surprised to be able to eat and hold down the entire cup of food all at once. What a tremendous learning curve this LapBand is!

Adjusting...
on May 5, 2008 8:23 am
Hey All!

Well since my last post I would have to say that I am able to eat solids, yesterday I had some crab, and the day before I had some ground turkey. I do feel pretty tight though, hunger is pretty rare for me right now. I do have an appointment coming up on Thursday and I have mixed feelings about going because I feel so tight already, I'm kind of afraid to get a fill right now because I feel like my body hasn't adjusted well to the one I have completely, I am afraid to try chicken yet, because it has always been a tough food for me, but I will try in the next few days. On a lighter note I have lost a half a pound, didn't see that one coming seeing as I have been so stagnant, hopefully it's a sign of better things to come!

My Story

I met with Dr. Floch after attending an informational session in my area. It was an emotional thing for me because I think that it really was a moment when I became really aware of how big a problem my weight had become, I mean, I was sitting there listening to a surgeon who was telling me that I was 2.5 times more likely to die than other 26 year olds out there. I made a decision, that can't be me, I want my husband and I to be able to have a family. I want to make all my health issues better, if not gone completely. The LAPBAND as well as my own will and drive will help enable me to achieve this. I am hopeful and grateful to the Lord for opening my eyes!
