Hello all I am new to this forum......

Aug 30, 2010

I wanted to join a forum so that I can get all the help and support neede to continue my weight loss journey. I had the lap band surgery Feb. 2007 weighing in at 435 lbs. over the course of two years I have multiple problems. First I was never a good candidate for the lapband because recommended weight is under 300lbs. I am a person who carries alot of scarring tissuse so acessing the port  for my fills where traumatic. I never knew I had a scarring problem til after the band. i lost a total of 30 lbs. I was very upset. I was going to the doctor and paying all these copays and the saline was leaving do to a hole in the port. but to make a long story short. After several attempts of trying to get my lapbad port and tube replaced I had to go to another doctor and have him take care of me. Then he couldn't acess it because of the amount of adipose tissue from to the muscle where the port was placed. so after a hard disappointing and frustrating time the New doctor came to me and said we are going to have to convert you to a RNY. My surgery was august 17th 2010 and I am down 17 lbs already. Its taking me a little while to recover but I feel alot better already. I am writing my story to give people hope not to give up. Just because I had a bad experience with the band you may have success but make sure you research thoroughly I thought I did and make sure you trust your doctors judgement. I wil be happy to answer any question you have about the conversion.
