My Story

I am a loyal family man who has always had trouble with his weight.  Like many others I have had success in working out and dieting only for it to go away and come back and then some.  The ability to do this decreased as I got older and I got bigger and bigger over the years.
I have always believed that my life and life style would change and that i would be able to manage my weight.  This belief tarnished over the years and i got to the point where I thought it was useless to try.  I turned down WLS about 10 years ago, our insurance paid for it, only to regret it as I got bigger.  I saw the lives of  the people who did it change in a positive manner that I had missed out on.
I got another opportunity to do this when my current employer signed on and our insurance covered most of it, so I signed up.  I did the steps required by my insurance half heartedly believing that there would be a miracle and I would not need to go through with it.
This belief I held on to till the day of my surgery, and once it was done it opened up my eyes that this was in fact the miracle I was waiting for.
It is not easy I am making the changes that needed to be made and I am fully aware that over the years I could not doit with out this tool.
I am down almost thirty lbas in my first four weeks and I know it is just the begining of this journey.  I know this is not the magic cure for life but I am fortunate to be one of the people whose life is wonderful with the exeption of the weight and the problems that came along with it.
Since surgery, nearly overnigh, i am off diabetese and blood-pressure meds and I know the cholesterol will follow.
I look forward to sharing this trip with you and support each other on the way.
