Home from the hospital

Jan 06, 2010

I had my surgery (roux-en-y laproscopic gastric bypass) on Monday, January 4. I came home from the hospital today. I'll write more tomorrow when I'm a little more coherent; I'm on painkillers right now but it still hurts pretty bad. I think a lot of the pain is gas which will hopefully get better over the next few days. I'm having a protein shake right now, Cookies and Cream. It's not too bad but I really don't like creamy tasting things - I might try to make it with some water and ice tomorrow.

We went to Craig's house tonight to say goodbye to John (he's leaving for Hawaii tomorrow) and it was the first time that I talked to anyone besides my family, Craig and Lauren about the surgery. Everyone was really supportive, and I surprisingly didn't feel too awkward.

I'm going to make a spreadsheet with my starting weight to track my progress. I started this whole process last September at a high weight of 444 lbs. I'm at 398 today. Here's to a fresh start.
