It's Been Awhile...

May 17, 2010

I haven't been able to sit down with the computer for more than a few minutes.  I am 17 days out from my RNY and Gall Bladder removal and I have lost 13lbs so far.  Very happy with that.

As for my surgery itself, all went textbook until the 2nd day my pain meds weren't working for me and it took awhile to get switched in the interem I developed fluid in my left lung so I had respitory therapy and stayed an extra night in the hospital.  Dr. Chebli was AWESOME!  He came in on Sat night when I was having issues at 9:30.  I had to have a cat scan and a GI test to see if it was a leak or the lung.  He wanted to make sure that I was okay before he headed home.  Evergreen hospital was great, the staff was remarkable and I had no complaints about how they treated me.  My husband was able to stay with me at the hospital.  My surgery was on Friday and I went home on Monday afternoon.

Since I have been home my biggest complaint was that I couldn't get comfortable.  Finally on Sat, I got on OH and looked up what to do for the pulling pain I was having because I am off of the pain meds and realized what the binder they sent home with me from the hospital was for...much better now!

I have discovered that I like foods I never liked before refried beans, oatmeal, chili.  It is so crazy.  And on top of that I don't like any berry or cherry flavored things anymore.  Taste and learn.  The easiest way for me to get in my fluids is drinking decaf ice tea.  Well I am getting tired right now so off I go and I will be back soon.
