Day 2 of 'THE DIET' and Birthday Cake?
Jan 19, 2012
Feeling good today, on day 2 of this 2 week diet. I'm a pretty good cook (if I do say so myself), and so I'm finding that this diet of meat, cheese, eggs, and green veggies is not so tough. As soon as I hear the word diet, I usually start to get a little head hunger. Thinking about what I'm going to deprive myself of this go round. Great thing about this diet is that when I think I think about what I'm craving, and what diet thing I can have for dinner, I breathe a sigh of relief, because it's usually something yummy.Tonight I wanted salisbury steak for dinner. I'd usually have that with rice and green beans. I'm still having the meat. Just having it with a side of turnip greens...wish I could have a little sweet potato too (that's my head hunger just determined to have a say!), anyway, I'm very much sated and happy with dinner. Even without the sweet potato, I don't really feel like I'm missing anything.
I'm boiling a bunch of eggs right now (about 10), so that when I come home from work, and I just want to grab a quick snack, I can just grab a boiled egg and just have at it. Same for in the evening if I feel peckish....I think I'll take some to work for snack purposes too....just in case the usual protein shake and cottage cheese that I usually have gets too boring.
On another note...so many people in my family are born in December, January, and February, and I'm the designated cake orderer person. Got a birthday coming up tomorrow. Went to Publix...to the dessert section, and ordered the cake. The head hunger started to rear it's ugly head (only because I know that I won't be having these kinds of things for a long time...it's not like I have to buy something sweet everytime I go there). I ordered the cake...my usual, quarter sheet, vanilla, with cream cheese icing (I love Publix cakes with cream cheese icing)...last minute I changed my mind. Ordered the cake with butter cream icing (I don't care for butter cream icing. It doesn't tempt me at all.)....soooooo, no cake for me :-)
My daughter's birthday is February 13th....12 days after my surgery. Don't expect to have much trouble getting through that one :-)
