8 Month Post - OP Check up...

Apr 14, 2010

Today was my 8 month post-op check up and it was great. The wonderful news is that today I am no longer overweight. I have made it to the Normal range for my BMI. This was something that I don't think I have ever done before. I mean my entire life I remember being overweight even at the age of 5 years old. I just can't believe it, I am still amazed.

Now for the big question, What could be better than that?  Lots I tell you...lots of things that I have gained through this journey. I am so grateful to God for giving me this opportunity. What have I gained through all of this , knowledge about obesity, realization that I have a food addiction, power of knowledge to help myself beat the addiction, energy to chase my daughter (soon to be 2 years old), motivation to pick myself up off the couch and exercise, courage to continue the program and journey each day. I am opening myself up to learn about me, to love me and to try things I have never done. My life prior to WLS was to cater to everyone elses needs and to put my desires on the back burner. Food was my coping mechanism, but I have recognized that, admitted it and I am facing it head on. I have my good days and my bad days but I know how to do this and I will reach my goals. I started training yesterday for the 5k , I am so excited. Before my workout I was so hungry, but afterwards I was not so maybe this is a good thing for me to do when I get the snacking feeling, just go work out instead.

No hernias, or any other problems. He said I can now have a piece of potatoe, sweet potatoe, fruit or other starchy vegetables a couple of times a week. I am so excited. So at this point I am on full diet now. He said just remember the rules and he said by  my 1 year check up I should be near 1400 calories a day. He said I should be at goal by August.

What a day, I am so happy!
