Surgeon Testimonial

William J. Roe, Jr., MD
Dr. Roe is a pretty cool person... cocky as anything, but he knows his stuff. I like him... sometimes he's a little weird... but I like him. I have only heard great things about his office staff and I have no complaints.

He's different, but good.

Support Group
on May 14, 2008 12:00 am

Today I went to my first support group meeting at Dr. Roe's office. I was glad I wasn't the only person there who hadn't been approved yet. It was me, brad and mom, and then one other woman who hasn't been approved yet. Everyone else had already had the surgery.

It made me wish I was approved. I met Diana... she was cool. She's very in-your-face and honest about everything she says. I like how honest she is. She even told me to start saving to buy boobs... cause I will probably loose mine.

I wasn't sure about how often I was going to go to the group meetings, but I think now I will go more often.

My First Appointment
on May 2, 2008 12:00 am
Today was my first appointment with Dr. Roe. ugh. I weighed in at 412.5 lbs. I gained weight. And I had actually been trying to diet again for like the millionth time in my life.  Oh well... hopefull I can get approved for this soon.

Anyway, Dr. Roe said that he felt that Roux en Y was the best option for my situation. Again he told me what would happen and what I would have to do to make it work.

I am so excited. It's like being offered a new shot at life. I wish it was tomarrow.

And it begins....
on April 10, 2008 12:00 am
So today I went to "New Patient Orientation" at Baltimore Bariatrics, Dr. Roe's office.  I have been thinking about gastric bypass for about 2 years now. I started thinking about it even before that, but a nurse at my doctor's office talked to me about it about 2 years ago. At that time I didn't think I was ready... looking back, I could've qualified for it then. Anyway... orientation was what I expected it to be; most of it I already knew from reading about everything I could get my hands on. He did say one major thing that I had never thought about or read anywhere... about how fat cells change hormones into other hormones. It was funny, when I asked him exactly what his website meant by minimally invasive open procedure... he kinda looked at me like "who are you to ask me something" lol. He is so cocky, but I liked the idea that he adapted the surgery to what he thought worked better.

So I was weighed... 408lbs. ugh! I made an appointment for next month.
