Daily Regimens

I had to call my surgeon's office today because I was a little concerned about some "symptoms" I was experiencing.  The incision where the drain was is very tender and hard, and it stings.  I also have, on occasion, sharp pains coming from my back on the left side.  It hurts to sit / stand / walk, and medicine wasn't cutting the pain!  Finally, I had these wave of flu-like chills that would run over my body, although I had no temp or infection brewing from my incisions.  I was baffled.

My surgoeon's office said that my "symptoms" were ALL normal.  They said if I continue to exercise (walk, walk, walk), get all my fluids in, AND use my breathing-thingie (breathe, breathe, breathe), it would alleviate my pain considerably.  They said that the stinging / tugging sensation I'm feeling from my drain site is because there are deeply inset stitches that are healing; they said the pain could continue for up to a month ((sigh)), and that usually pain medicine won't cut the pain.  Great.  That's something to look forward to!  The pain in the front and in the back could also be caused by a gas bubble trapped in my abdomen area.  Finally, they said the chills I was experiencing were probably the anesthesia working itself out of my system.

So, I guess I'm not dying after all!    Just experiencing the healing process!

Now, pardon me, but I need to go do some heavy breathing!
