The Process
on April 18, 2011 4:59 pm
Well today I met with my surgeon and things are looking good.  We bothe agreed on the right procedure and talked about the procedures.  I got my possible surgery date line being May-July pending my approval from my insurance company. So I have a few things to do that my doctor wants me to do before surgery and the main one is to loose as much weight as possible to avoid having two seperate procedures and to lessen the chance of complications during and after surgery.  The only bad this is that I may have to have surgery at a hospital further away from home but no biggie if that's the case but keeping my fingers crossed that my insurance company lets me have the surgery in my city.

But overall I'm  so very ready to get this done and over with so I can live life to the fullest.

My Story

OK so my two year journey is finally coming to a end.  I started the bariatric surgery process two years ago then my file got thrown in a box and placed under a desk somewhere and was forgotten about and i was told to try more weight loss programs after already trying 6 in the last 4yrs.  So I got some help from my PCP assistant who then started the ball rolling for me again by getting the auth. from my insurance provider.

I then started doing my research on surgeons and after looking at 10 different ones and considering going out of California to have the surgery done I found the perfect doctor  right here in San Francisco.  I contacted his office and the help there was amazing they were pleased to help me and told me everything I needed to do to prepare and even gave me a time line of how long the process generally takes before surgery.  Now I'm 5'8" tall and around 400lbs (ughhhh) so I'm excited that I'm alot closer to having surgery than I was two years ago.  I've completed all of my appointment except a seminar and my appointment with the surgeon.

I originally wanted the RNY but then decided not to then I wanted the Lap-Band and after speaking to a close friend and doing alot of reading, I realized that there was something out there much better and suitable for me than those two which is the DS.  So I meet with the surgeon on April 26 and hoping that all goes well from there as I'm ready to get my life back.
