My Sleep Study Experience

Sep 04, 2012

Sleep Apnea test - Done! Not so bad. I went to a sleep clinic in Forney, Texas. I checked in around 8 pm. The nurse asked me a lot of questions and quickly got me settled into my room. The room was set up very similar to that of a hotel room. I had a TV with a remote a very VERY comfy bed and pillow (I brought my own pillow, too), and control over the thermostat. I was hooked up to a lot of wires, a process that took about 20 minutes from start to finish. The nurse helped me relax by telling me that it is okay to move around and get comfy with all of the wires on me. The nurse said that they would be alerted if anything came loose and would come reconnect it - no problem. That helped me relax knowing it would be no big deal. I felt like the bride of Frankenstein when they were done hooking me up to all of the wires.I fell asleep around 10 pm and the nurse woke me up at 5 am. I was disconnected from all of the wires and was given the opportunity to shower there if I wanted. The worst part of the whole process was the waxy substance that they use to attach the "wires" to in my head. I shampooed my hair that morning about 4 times and it all dissolved.

Overall, a positive experience.
