Surgeon Testimonial

Vishal Mehta M.D.
I was very impressed with Dr. Mehta. He is very professional. He even has a sense of humor. I have attended his seminars and support groups and find them very informative. Since I received so much information from his seminars and support groups, I really didn't have a lot of questions to ask him and any that I did have were answered to my satisfaction. His office staff is first rate. Lulu and Jane are the best and definitely have it going on. Being in business myself, you can definitely tell when an office is properly run and Dr. Mehta's is. Of course, this is just my opinion.

My Story

Had surgery on 1 Dec and went home on 3 Dec. I am feeling fine - absolutely no pain at all. I have been grocery shopping (no lifting) and walked the mall several times. Now with the snow storm here, I'm kind of stuck in the house for the weekend, but I will make do.

Update November 30, 2004. Tomorrow will be my one year anniversary or re-birthday. It has been an awesome ride. I have now lost 110 pounds. The weight loss has slowed considerably, but it is still happening. I hope to lose another 20 pounds but would be perfectly content where I am at now. I have gone from a size 26 to a size 12 or 14 (depending on the brand). Life has been so great. I had one complication at 4 months out - a stricture and a low potassium problem. I still battle the potassium thing and take supplements daily, but it is manageable and workable. Would I do this again? You bet. On the personal side, I have been a widow for almost 3 years. Recently I have met a wonderful man. He is so supportive of my surgery. I had no problems telling him from the get go about it. He even read some articles on it, just so we could talk about it. Great guy. To my surgeon, thank you. I have my life back again. To my insurance company - you are the greatest (can you believe that?). You have handled and paid for everything, without question. A nurse even checks in with me periodically, specifically about the surgery but also with the potassium problem. I believe this may be a malabsorption problem, but older (pre-WLS) blood work show low numbers too. To my family and friends - thanks for the great support - I wouldn't have made it this far.

September 2005 Update - Remember that great guy I met? Well, we got married earlier this month. Life is good. I fight with about 5 pounds up and down, but hey, its only 5 pounds - not 50 or 100. I can work with that. Recently had hernia surgery and another stricture - all fixable.

2010 UPDATE  Have now lost a total of 194 lbs.  I wear a size 4.  I have had no significant regain and am quite healthy.  I feel great and absolutely love life!!!
