Cruise

Oct 09, 2010

I just got home today from my cruise. My mom and I went on Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas. Our POrts of call were Labadee Haiti, Costa Maya and Cozumel Mexico. It was supposed to go to Jamaica also but the dock isn't finished yet. Wow it was such an AMAZING experience. This is the largest cruise ship out. There is so much to do on it. It has a zip line, 2 rock climbing wall, 2 flowriders, a miniature golf course, a merry-go-round, and an ice rink, plus all the shows. In addition to the standard cruise show, it also has the broadway show Hairspray my favorite, I know all the songs). It also has a high diving aqua show.

At our ports of call we did shore excursions.
In Labadee we rode an alpine type roller coaster down the mountain. That was so much fun. The only problem was my mom went ahead of me, and since we controlled our own carts she kept coming to a stop so I never could gain a lot of speed because I was afraid I would crash into her. There were a couple of times when I came close. We also walked a lot of the trails around the mountain. Mom decided to sit in the shade of some palm trees while I went to explore the Dragons Breath Rock formation. It was really cool. When the waves crash into the rocks the air pressure flows through the caves and it make the sound of a dragon breathing. I was able to get some video footage of it. BEAUTIFUL. The water was so pretty. I walked along the waters edge and enjoyed the waves crashing over my feet.
In Costa Maya we rode a zip line. We took a bus for about an hour drive into the jungle, with some other adventurers from the cruise. Once we got to the camp we got strapped into our harnesses and got out helmets on, we climbed into a truck of sorts. It had 6 rows of benches separated by a middle aisle. Our tour guide gave us some history of the Mayans. Once we reached the zippiness we were separated into group of two. Mom and I were partners (of course). We were hoisted up to the top of the tower together. Then mom went down the zipline first. There was a total of three lines we rode. The last one was the fastest and rode along this beautiful fresh water lagoon the was like 6 different shades of blue and green. There was a guy on the last tower taking our pictures as we approached the tower, so that was a great souvenir.
In Cozumel we did an ATV jungle adventure. It was very intense. Those ATV's could go so fast. The area we rode was full of loose rocks and holes and divest that were crazy bumpy. We took a short break to look at some Mayan ruins. There were a couple of burial sites. It was cool. Mom had a hard time with how bumpy the ride was so one of the guides took her off be herself and did a private tour back to the base camp. He showed her an iguana that was climbing a tree.
Back on the ship I rode the zipline, and did the rock climbing wall. I was so proud of myself for how high up I got on the wall. I made it halfway up both times I tried. Wow that is a great workout.
I got to do so much this trip because of my success with my RNY. If I hadn't had the surgery I would not have been able to do half of what I did. It's amazing how much my outlook on life has changed. There is so much out there in this world that I want to experience.
