I can't believe its been almost 6 weeks since my surgery. So much has changed. The last time I weighed I was down about 19 pounds. I am estatic about the weight loss. In addition to the weight loss I am down about 2 pant sizes and am fitting into most of my old clothes again...yay!!!! I'm back to working out again and feeling good about it. Before I was just going through the motions because as I was gaining my weight back I was so uncomfortable working out. Emotionally I am finding that each and everyday I am finding more and more of my "old" self again. I'm happy and wanting to do things again. No more hiding at home and sulking over gaining weight. As far as food goes, its trial and error. And boy have I learned alot. I get full pretty fast and stay full most of the time. I do get hungry on occassion, but find that if I drink something it satisfies the hunger...most of the time. On the bad side, I have gotten sick a few times. They say that sleeve patients don't get the "dumping" syndrome...but i must beg to differ. I had a craving for ice cream the other night, the real stuff. So I got an ice cream shake and ate half of it. With in minutes I was soooo sick. I felt sick to my stomach and was throwing up. Then my stomach started cramping and rumbling. To leave out the gorry details....let's just say I was washing my sheets at midnight cause I didn't make it to the bathroom in time!! What adult does that??!! Gross!! So I'll check ice cream off the list! :( Then tonight I was out eating and my grandma insisted on getting onion rings as an appetizer (she doesn't know I had the surgery). I said go ahead and I may have some. I tried one and , again, deathly ill. It hits me like a ton of bricks. Break out in the sweats, stomach rumbling, had to run to the bathroom. I'm sure its partially cause my poor stomach isn't used to grease either. So I'll mark greasy foods off the list as well!! So not worth the aftermath...even for a bite! I can live without ice cream and grease if it makes me feel this good :) Can't wait to see what the next few weeks bring...
