4 days post OP!

Jul 14, 2012

I cant believe it is already done! It took me over a year to get approved for this surgery and in the matter of two weeks I was prepping for it, and it 2 hours it was all over! On my second night in the hospital i remember looking over at my sister and saying, "wow, its actually done. it really happened!"
Being new to this site and still trying to figure it all out I am going to keep this short and simple and add on more as i figure it all out!
The 2 nights spent in the hospital were rough. you don't think about the fact that you walk into the hospital feeling great the day of surgery with no complaints, not being sick or in an emergency situation. Then you wake up in post op, having NO idea where you are, with the worst burning pain ever and moaning of 10/10 pain. well at least in my case. The pain was very quickly reduced and once I was able to orient myself the hospital stay become a lot easier. Pain management was my #1 goal in the hospital and walking. I stayed on top of both really well and it helped me out so much! I had an amazing night nurse both nights and with out her it would have been even more of a struggle!
I have been home now since Thursday morning and every day has gotten a little better! I slept for the first day, walked, and moaned. Second day I had to be out of the house in the morning for 3 hours and stayed in the car, while inspectors were looking at our house ( we are in the middle of a move on top of all of this). 3rd day, pain was the worst but I was completely independent and able to get myself in and out of bed, and around the house. still on the liquid pain medication, it makes a huge difference. Woke up this morning feeling a lot better. Pain noticeably down, more active, sit up for hours at a time, and walk around more with less of a restriction feeling.
Really trying to focus on getting enough protein and liquid intake. it really is TOUGH. when your in pain, not hungry or thirsty and just want to rest and be comfortable its hard to remember to do those things!
