Been Awhile
on April 14, 2008 9:01 pm
Hi everyone, it has been awhile. So far I have lost about 45lbs and went from size 26 to 20. I am pretty happy with my rny! Never would I have been able to do this without it. Still having trouble every once in awhile with some foods, mostly meat items. My sister said she was just starting solids at 10 weeks, she thinks I am doing pretty good. Sometimes I think I eat too fast or don't chew well enough. I will have to get some more current pictures taken, Time goes by so fast and I forget to document. I am sleeping better and not feeling nearly as tired during the day, it's great! Imagine after 40 more pounds! Been getting protein and h2o in most days, still not real hungry. I'm told to enjoy this time because it won't last forever. Hopefully by the time the honeymoon phase is over I will be at goal. Maintaining is always a challenge, never been able to do it before. Hoping I will have formed better eating habits by then. It is so nice to look forward to the future now knowing someday I will be a more normal size. It was just a hopeless dream before. Summer will be here soon, can't wait for warm weather, I love to swim. I think I may need a new swimsuit. Best to all of you here at OH, I love all the info here and the great people I have met.

Restaurant visit!
on February 27, 2008 8:25 pm
Hello to everyone at OH. I am doing very well, have lost about 22lbs so far. We were out with the grandkids yesterday and they wanted to eat so we went to Ihop, I said I could find something there. I ordered the senior tilipia with well cooked brocoli and some cream of brocoli soup. Don't really know what set it off-ate about 1 bite of soup, little bit of fish and a small taste of brocoli. I got a real pain in the middle of my chest that I couln't breath away and knew I was going to throw up! Managed to keep it together till we left, but as soon as we drove a minute told hubby to pull over. Got out threw up and felt instantly better. This is all live and learn for me at this point, fortunately I wasn't violently sick. Sure would love some chicken fingers!!!!!!!!!! Starting to feel so much better, soreness is almost gone, skin is healing from the tape, and sometimes even feel a little hungry. Working on getting protein in, sounds like that is a common problem. It really is hard to eat enough to cover what we are supposed to have. I added a scoop of whey protein, vanilla, to a chocolate advant edge shake to really boost the protein. I believe adequate protein helps healing and weight loss. Wonder if my weight loss attempts would have worked better had I known this before? That's all my news, good-nite all.

First Post
on February 23, 2008 2:17 pm
This will be my first post, not much good at keeping up with these things! I had surgery 2/12/2008, surgery went well I hear. Had a little problem with the runs the day after and became very restless, not able ti sit sleep or concentrate. Wanted to go home soooooooooo bad. I had walked the halls all nite wed. and started the embarrassing stuff on Thurs. Very dissappointed with the staff. Caught the lpn who helped me gossiping about my situation, she did at least turn red! Seemed like they spent an awful lot of time cnatting and stuff. No one seemed able to help me, just kept saying that the dr. was coming. Well, I must have bugged them enough becaise finally Amy showed uo around 3pm. Had to really convince her that I should go home. I had already pulled both iv's out, accidentally, trying to take care of myself. Blood everywhere and took awhile for help to arrive. I pulled the bathroom rope so she probablr thought I had another accident and sure wasn't in any hurry to get there. Finally got disgharged, took forever, and home by about 6pm. Crawled into bed and slept for awhile. Not really sleeping very well right now but hope that gets better as my body gets back to normal. Kinsey says I can start soft and pureed foods tomorrow since I am doing so well. Yeh can't wait, bring that tuna on! Something to chew. Got my drain tube out on Thurs and all steristrips too. Skin is really red from tape. Other than my stomach being sore not too much pain, had a lot after surgery though. This is really stretching my typing abilities. Thank you to all who prayed for me and wished me well. Especially to Lori who called me in the hospital.

My Story

Hi everyone, I am a bit behind in doing this! My story really isn't different from so many others. Chubby baby, tubby kid and fat teen. Started with the diet pills in highschool and lost weight and started the yo yo lifestyle. Over the years I have taken many diet pills(don't even know what most of them were), fad diets, pricey diets, weightwatchers, etc etc................ This is probably the heaviest I have ever been-about 250. I haven't been able to work for over 5 years due to spine surgeries that only made the problem worse. Been interested in wls for a long time but assumed that insurance didn't cover. Last year my sister had wls and revived my interst again and I began checking into it. Yes it was covered but Dr. Lane wasn't in our network. I must have sounded pretty disappointed because they went through the process and joined our network. During preop testing a lung cancer was found and Dr. Lane removed that in May 2007. Then when I went back to insurance they neede proof that there wasn't any cancer. Well finally got all documentation and here I am almost 2 weeks post op. Feeling ok, hope to feel even better soon. Was really impressed with hospital when in for lung surgery not so much for this surgery. That's about all to tell, thanks for listening.
