Ugh... wow!

Okay so let me begin to tell my story.  I am a wife and mom of five children.  I grew up in a family of 5 children too.  I loved it and remember growing up fondly.  I went on to become a teacher, then met my hubby got married and had my children.  That is the short version.

Here is the long... In about 4th grade is when I remember that I started to notice that I was getting a bit bigger than my friends.  My older brothers were chunky too but they were never concerned with it (or at least never acted like they were)  My sister was married when I was 11 so I don't really remember how or when she started to put on weight.  I remember wanting to loose some weight but never knowing how to go about it and I was too embarrassed to ask.  So little by little I kept putting it on and occasionally tried my idea of a diet that maybe lasted for a day or so.  Just long enough for my brothers to realize it and make fun of me for it!  lol

Going into college I was about 160-170.  I loved it there too and put on more weight again with no knowledge of how to go about taking it off.  I mean I wasn't stupid.  I know the eat less and exercise but not really a realistic plan of what should be done.  No knowledge of  counting calories, protein, fat etc.... or how many I should have in a day or any of that.  And taking to someone or admitting I needed guidance seemed out of the question!  I did exercise with my friends.  We went on walks or to the gym but nothing routine and it was just for fun... because they were going.  I graduated at about 185 lbs.

I would say I was around that weight when I got married in 1998.  A yr later I had my first girl and then started a membership @ curves.  I also did a program called biometrics.  It gave me an eating plan and an exercise plan with a person to help you and keep you on track.  I got down to about 175.  I wanted to loose a bit more but not as much as I wanted another baby.  He was born 2 yrs after my daughter.  While I was pregnant we moved for my husbands job.  That was a hard move for me because I was a SAHM and I was worried I would never make any friends.  But I did!  A great group of friends.  About a yr after I had my son I started dieting on my own watching calories, exercising at the YMCA and never eating after 7pm.  I did well!  I got down to about 160 (from a 195 post preg weight) then I started weight watchers with some friends and lost some more... down to about 150!!!

Then we moved and I totally gained and got preg in about 4 months time.  After another girl was born I made a couple of weak attemps at weight loss but until she was about 2 all I did was gain.  I started ww again after another move at about 205 lbs. Over about 9 months time I lost really well and again got down to about 150!  For about 10 min I did a happy dance and then was preg AGAIN!!

#4 was born my biggest baby yet and I was huge!  About 215.  I would say I tried about 2 or 3 times and would bounce around but never lost for any length of time.  Then it was #5  I had him and my weight was about 220 after he was born.

******** This is where my life changed.  5 weeks after my son was born my Mom died.  She had non- Hodgkins lymphoma but the death was sudden and unexpected.  After that I gained more.  Lost again on a diet called PINK which I actually like and think I did pretty good until.......

First I got a terrible case of poison ivy (yes weird but true!) Went in the hospital a couple times and was on strong steroids for a couple months and a couple other meds thats main side effect was weight gain!  lovely   And gain weight I did.

17 months after my Mom died my Dad died from the same illness.  Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.  His we saw coming but it didn't help us to know... it is a weird feeling when your parents are gone.  You feel...  lost.

with this plus the fact that 3 weeks later I dislocated my knee.  I was out of commission!  I couldn't exercise  but I still had the great ability to EAT!!  Now I am 245.2   I am set to have vertical sleeve surgery on April 1st and I couldn't be more excited.

I will start my liquid diet on March 16th but I would like to loose a few lbs before then.  Maybe 5?? Anyway thats me till now!
