 9/02/03:
Well I made an appointment with my Primary Care Manager today. My appointment is on 9/11/03. Hopefully he supports Bariatric surgrey and will refer me to (hopefully) Dr. Muhammad Jawad. He has excellent patient rewiews, so that is who I am hoping for!!

09/12/03:
I had my doctors appointment with my PCM yesterday and won't write me a referal for surgrey until I go to some weight loss program on MacDill AirForce base. So I guess I will have to do that.....thats all for now. Bye


08/26/2004: I went to see my new PCM at MacDill Brandon clinic and asked for a referral to go see a surgeon. I had no trouble, and she said she would be more than happy to give me a referal. So I checked online today and I see my referal was approved. I will be seeing a surgeon named Dr. Stephen M. Butler in Plant City, FL. I have never heard of him and I did not see anythign about him on this website so that makes me kindof nervous. I will let you know how my appointmnet with him goes. Also if anyone knows anything about Dr. Butler please let me know. I have also just started school at Polk Community College, and I am excited about that. However, now I am worried, I dont want to miss any school but I definitly want to have the surgrey. I wonder if I could be lucky to have it done over christmas break??? Who knows! I weigh about 345 right now and i can BARELY squeeze into the desks and climb the stairs so I am looking forward to the surgrey more than ever now!


09/01/04 Tricare is so dumb sometimes. I called Dr. Butler (the General surgeon who I was reffered to) and his secertary says "ummm..we don't do gastric bypass surgrey, you will have to have your insurance company reffer you to a bariatric surgeon who specializes in that". So I call the Tricare service center in Orlando, where the people usually give me the run around, but this time I talked to someone with brain cells who was extremly nice (I wish I would have remembered her name!) and she switched me to DR.JAWAD in Ocala! I am so glad I got him. I have heard nothing but good about him so I am very very happy and relieved I got him (whew). So I have my first appointment on September 24th (Fri). I hope everything works out. I just noticed that the first time I posted on my profile will be exactly 1 year ago tomorrow. Time goes by so fast. I am concerned about school though because I just started, and I don't want to drop my classes. So maybe I can do it over Christmas break or something. Who knows? I am going to have to talk to God about my schedule...He thinks that He is busy...lol! Well I will update after my consultation...as if anyone reads my profile anyways...:)


9/28/04 I went to my surgrey consult thing this past Friday. It was a long drive and the appointment itself was some what boring. I allready knew everything they talked about (thanks to eveyone on here!)So now I have to go get my blood work done, and my psychiatric evaluation, and ummm oh yeah, the gall bladder ultra sound. Then after all that they submit my file and wait for aproval. I will let you know what happens next

12/1/04 Yep...I am still alive..and still fat. I have been doing all of my pre-op tests. I had my EKG which was 'irregular' so they have to do it again. I had my thyroid tested which was 'slighty abnormal' so I have to have it done again. I had my gallbladder ultrasound and I guess that was okay because I never heard anything more about it. Tomorrow I have a sleep study so I get to spend the night hooked up to machines. I still have my psychiatric evaluation to do. Hopefully I will have that done by January. Everything seems to be going to slow!! But life is pretty good right now. I just wish I could hurry up and get this surgery done!!!

12/13/04 I had my psychological evaluation appointment today. It was kind of boring. I talked with the Doctor for maybe 10 minutes and then I just filled out a 600 and something true or false type of pernonality test thing. Some of the questions on there are pretty funny. I should get my results back Thursday. In the mean time, I need to get off of the interenet and make an appointment for my blood work and EKG to be redone. So will update when I get back my results.....

1/5/05 I got my blood work done. I have an appt. tomorrow for the EKG. I will update when I get all of the results. I also need to find out if I do need to do the sleep study or not, and if I need to see a dietician. I left a message at the surgeons office, but they did not call back so I will have to call back tomorrow and bug them. 

1/6/05 I went to the Doctor's office again today. My thyroid test came back fine, my EKG was fine (yay!). I learned today that I have high blood pressure. It has been 180/90 the last 3 times I have been to the Doctor, so they decided to put me on blood pressure medicine. I am only 22 years old so that is kinda sad. I also asked about my gallbladder ultrasound, and she said my gallbladder was fine, but it showed I have a fatty liver. She said my liver is functioning okay right now but if I don't lose weight I could have liver failure. So thats bad of course, but at the same time, I am glad it happened now because I think will make it easier for insurance approval for the surgery. I did call the surgeons office today to ask about the sleep study, but apparently they take really long lunch breaks there..they never answer the phone. So..I am going to call tomorrow. If I find out I do not need the sleep study I am done and I can submit everything to the insurance company! But if I do need the stupid sleep study, then I will have to hurry up and get it done..so that all for now. I will update in the next few days about the status of the sleep study.....

1/11/05 I taled to the girl at Dr. Jawads office yesterday. I found out that I do not need the sleep study and I also don't need to see a nutritionist. There were a few things they had not had faxed to them so I called my doctor and asked them to send the copies of the things they need. They told me to call back Friday and that as long as they recieved all of the stuff they needed that they would be ready to submit it to my insurance company for approval. So I will update again on Friday!

02/10/05 I finaly got a hold of Dr. Jawads office today. My file was submitted to my insurance company on Jan 24th. The lady I talked to said I should know something by next week, so if I am approved I should be having my surgery in about a month! Now I just have to be nervous until I hear if I was approved or not (crossing my fingers!)


02/28/05 Yay I found out today that I am approved!!! I went to my insurance companies website and saw I was approved. I almost fell out of my computer chair! I have my pre op appt this Thursday (3/3)and my surgery is on March 9th. I can't believe how quick it is! I am so happy and so relieved! I felt like this would never happen. Well, I guess I have to go to the store tonight to get some atkins shakes. I get to start my liquid/high protein diet today :) 



03/07/05 Bad news. My Dr. Called today and they cancelled my surgery because my EKG that I just have done came back "highly abnormal". I have to go to a cardiologist and find out what is wrong and then get cardiac clearance from him or her before my date can be rescheduled. So as soon as I find anything out I will update. 


04/06/05 Hello everyone. I had to have some tests done at the cardiologists office. I had an heart ultrasound, and a chemical stress test and both tests came out perfectly normal, so the cardiologist gave me my cardiac approval for the surgery. Everything should have been faxed today to Dr. Jawad's office, so hopefully tomorrow I will have a new surgery date to post on here! Until next time.....


04/12/05 Hi everyone. Well I have a new date now. I will be having my sugery next Monday on the 18th of April 2005! Hopefully nothing goes wrong this time. I started my profile in September 2003, so this has been a long journey for me so I am very ready to do this. I am not scared at all about the surgery, just very anxious to get it over with. 4/21/04 Hello, I had my surgery Monday and everything went fine. I am doing well, walking, and starting my full liquid diet today. I will update more when I am not sore.


6/8/05 Hello. It has been 6 weeks since my surgery. That first month was killer but I am doing fine now. I feel like normal except that I am never hungry. I still have trouble getting enough protein and water, but I am doing better. No complications. My higest weight that I know of was 345. At pre-op I was 330. Now I am 293. I was sqeezing in to a 28 now I am wearing a loose 26. I think I will be in a 24 soon. My face is smaller, my butt is much smaller, my love handles..those are all the things I noticed first. I am working now full time. I feel more confident allready. I just can't wait until I am small enough to go on rides so I can take my daugher to fairs and stuff and not have to bring a riding partner to ride rides with her..it's all those small things. 


9/23/05 Well it's been...a few months. :) I am doing well. I have lost about 90 pounds which is slower than most people, but fast enough for me. I am getting the loose skin which is gross..but I can cover it with clothes. I am still working full time, I have been dating. The only problem I have had is getting my protein (I am a vegetarian) those shakes are so gross..and I have tried all of them! I will put new pics up soon!
