Post Surgery....

Jul 15, 2012

Ahhhhh, so good to be back home!  Went in on Wednesday at 11 to check in, surgery started just after 1pm.  Was finally able to relax when I got there since I'd been up working 'till after 1am and then up early to finish work, right up until I had to leave for hospital.  Surgery took a little longer than planned, done after 5:30, since I have a lot of scar tissue from c-section 6 years ago.  Dr. almost had to do a sleeve, instead of RNY, but he stuck to original plan.  Pretty groggy the 1st night in hospital, hated the icky crap i had to drink for leak test/xray, but it was all good.  I could see my little pouch and watch the fluids drain down.  As the next day went by, I was up more and more, walking laps around nurses' desk, took meds when i needed them, started sipping my "shots" of water, watery apple juice, watery cranberry juice and watery grape juice.  I preferred 2 water shots with 2 juice shots and they had to be cold.  Just keep sippin, sippin, sippin!   Gas moving through just fine, went to bathroom fine.  Stayed in hospital 2 nights, and came home on Friday afternoon.  Was great having hubby sleep in my hospital room with me, nurses helped him get all situated.  Back to hospital tomorrow at 11am again for hubby to get admitted for his surgery.  Time for his sleeve!  He's seen me all weekend, sipping out of the 1 oz "shot cups" the nurses sent home with me and he went and stocked up on propel zero, and other non-sugar drinks.  Am amazed how I have no hunger, keeping satisfied on liquids, broth and popsicles, and how much my tummy is sore.  Pretty bruised, but it's feeling better and am going longer times between needing pain meds.  Loving the start of our journey and new healthy life!  Good luck to everyone that's starting this journey along with us this month and in the future!
