Post-Op

Jan 27, 2013

Ok, I finally have some me time. Not fielding questions of did you take your pills, take your drink, how's the gas, how's the pain.  They get kinda aggravating after a while and that's only questions from the kids. Ok, so surgery was great don't remember a thing after I slid onto the operating table. Walking was great, got up more quickly than they figured and ambulated well.  BUT, the best of all was the drugs, the drugs thru IV, orally, and given in your belly. The clear diet was clear, void of taste or color, lol. But if you mixed the vegetable broth with the chicken or beef it was great. Was over the sugar free gelatin, n Popsicles due to the aspartame it left a after taste. I can say walk, walk, walk, walk, WALK, AND DID I SAY WALK!!!!

I think the following was a test of my will power. So my father (yes, daddy's baby girl, only one too), decides last minute to fly up from Miami to check on me and the kids. He did a wonderful job, and then he cooked. He made greens beans with potatoes n bacon in them, beans with bacon, a 8lbs Boston Butt complete with potatoes n carrots n bacon (again with the bacon) rice and jiffy cornbread muffins. I did not get hungry, it smelt great but it did not want to eat it, I was completely grateful for my son made French Vanilla smoothie, which I can say was delicious.

My recovery has been going, there has been ups n downs. The pain of the heck with this reverse it, the excitement of I can't waits to see. The gas of a backwoods pork n bean eating champion. I told my girlfriend the a southern belle should never, I mean never have such sounds come out of her body! The only thing is getting this pill taking down to a science, working on my water which is a biggy for me.

Haven't weighed myself waiting for 7 days post-op. Excited, pushing through, and grateful for this new journey. Will follow up next Thursday!...
