I know, I know...2 posts in 1 day? But there is good reason. Today I finished an angel for my angel. Carrie (Sunnie) has been a wonderful, unselfish angel to me. She calls and checks on me, sends me messages, and all while she should be more worried about herself. She has been going thru chemo which in itself takes all you are. So, I made her an angel to help comfort her in such unpleasant moments. I hope it cheers her and lifts her spirits.

Well I haven't updated things in a while so, here goes.

I know it's too early for a stall and I know that the weight loss does slow down eventually. Well, in the last month I have felt like my weight loss slowed down and I was right. I lost 5 pounds in the last month. That puts my total weight loss at 60 lbs to never return. I have noticed my skin begin to sag a little. I am developing a 'turkey neck'. Sheila says it looks like I'm melting like a candle (from the top down, like wax melting). The energy I have is phenomenal!! I don't sit at the computer much anymore. Maybe a few minutes here and there just to take a look at a couple of sites, but since it's STILL raining here I thought I'd take a few minutes today to update.

My feet no longer swell and I don't take my water pills and potassium anymore. In fact, my feet look bony and skinny. I can see all the muscles and veins running through them. The backs of my legs are a little sore from all the walking (doc says its normal as long as I don't get cramps or 'Charley Horses') and my knees have quit hurting. I don't take the Celebrex or Tylenol Arthritis anymore, either. My hips ache a little but the doc says that it's normal due to the weight loss and the shifting of my center of gravity. My body is getting used to the changes. It will go away in a matter of time. The walking helps to alleviate that.

I have gone from 13 medications daily to only 3 plus my vitamins. Later this month I will go down to 2 medications daily plus my vitamins. I don't count vitamins as a medication because I don't feel they medicate anything. They supplement my nutrient intake. So they are supplements, not medication.

I have been walking so much that I intend to buy a pedometer soon just to keep count of how far I really am walking. That way I can be more creative in ways to get in a few more steps here and there. I have also taken over much of the house work again and John loves it. He says he's very proud of me and supports me in all my efforts. We have even been going to the mall just to walk around. There are only a couple of stores (Sears and Steve & Barry's) so we aren't spending money and going broke. John didn't get a whole lot of overtime this peak season so we are trying to pinch a few pennies here and there. There will be another peak season about the beginning of March. Hopefully ham sales will go up so he can get more overtime. SO GO BUY SOME HAM!!!!! Cook's ham, that is!

I have been slacking on my protein intake so to be aware of how much protein, carbs, calories, etc. VS. calories burned I am going to start using my fitday.com account (an online food journal) again. I am keeping track of every morsel that goes in my mouth so I can continue losing on a steady basis. But I discovered that I can't add my vitamins (Optisource) to that. So I will have to keep that in mind when I look at my charts.

I have been working on a cookbook of my own recipes for a few years and have been inspired to revise my recipes to fit my new lifestyle. I have even written a few more to add to the collection. John and Cammie have been my 'guinea pigs' or 'lab rats' on testing my new concoctions. So far they've liked everything except my burgers. I will work on that so I can create a burger that has flavor, is light in texture, and doesn't require bread crumbs (carbs) in order to achieve my goal. IF I ever publish my cookbook, just remember that I wrote it for MY lifestyle. And for those who disagree with obsessing over carbs...remember I'm not an athlete and need to limit the amount of white and starchy carbs. (My stuffed peppers tasted better WITHOUT the rice.) Still trying to make a sugar free version of baked beans so they taste just like Grandma's.

I am looking forward to spring. I have plans for a bigger garden this year. Not quite as big as Dad's were, but bigger than I've ever had. I also plan to get in those flowerbeds and make them pretty like Mom's used to be. I want to build an arbor and dig a pond for the back yard. I also want to build a bird condo complete with surrounding feeders. I have already drawn up my plans for both projects. I'm pretty sure that will all keep me pretty active this summer. I've been inspired by watching the 4 sets of Cardinals, 3 sets of Blue birds and various other birds at my 2 measly feeders outside my window. I also have a few sets of Morning Doves that freqent my yard.

Well, that's it for now. Going to go hit the treadmill for a while. Check back next month for another update.
