1 Year Post Op

Sep 28, 2010

Well, I am down 100 lbs from my highest weight. I am feeling ok, I just may be a little disappointed but nothing that I can't handle. Yesterday I had a visit with my PCP and good thing is he took me off my Blood Pressure Meds; however my overall sugar count is not doing so well and I have not been able to figure it out yet.

When I signed up for this surgery it was to either avoid or do away with diabetes and it seems like no matter what that problem has not been cleared up. It was never really about the weight for me but the health stuff. This time in 2008 my A1C was 5.8 and as of yesterday it was 6.5 which shows that it is going up and not down. Although my fasting sugar levels are within the correct range of 70-90s.....I just don't get it.

On a positive note I guess you just can't win them all. Am I happy with the RNY? Yes I am very happy but now I am just wondering how to beat this A1C thing because even though I will only be seeing the surgeon once a year, my PCP wants to see me every 4 months to see how the diabetes is going. I will post more after speaking with the surgeon next week. Until then everyone be blessed!

P.S. for those of you still considering this surgery, Go For It!!!! Even though my diabetic over all count is off, I am not feeling it one bit....trust me!! I just don't know what to make of that damn test right now especially considering when I check my sugar levels they are low. Maybe if I increase my exercise even more that will help, but don't let me saying anything in here deter you from this surgery. Because I am truly enjoying everything else!!!

Now Be Blessed!!
