20lbs Can Make a Difference

Nov 23, 2009

This past summer, I was working out regularly and trying to get into good shape as I prepared for surgery.  I did the eliptical machine often.  I went back to that machine last week and was surprised with how well I was doing.  I had not been on it since surgery.  When I was working out on it regularly, I noticed that for some reason some days were easier than others, so last week, I thought it might be a fluke.  But, I noticed again today that doing the same level work out is much easier when you are 20lbs lighter (even when you haven't been working out regularly!).  The funny thing is that in the past, I would have barely acknowledged a 20lb weight loss.  It seemed like a drop in the bucket when looking at how much I needed to lose.  Today, I realized that 20lbs can make a big difference -- even at my weight.  I am down about 32lbs overall, so I've lost more than 10% of my body weight.  I'm beginning to believe that small changes really can make big differences.  I'm so thankful to be losing and feeling healthier!
