7 weeks yesterday, so much has changed...

Nov 14, 2011

I feel so much different than I did just 2 weeks ago, let alone 7 weeks ago.  The first 5 weeks of my my recovery were absolutely miserable, in and out of the hospital...but since the last time, I've been having a relatively good go of it.  I am able to get at least 60g of protein in every day, which is something I kinda thought would never happen.  I still have some digestive woes but they're not even daily at this point.

I have kept up with the exercising, and yesterday had my best workout in the pool yet, and put in 1.25 miles in just under an hour.  It was only a little over a week ago that it took a day to recover from 20 laps, now I can do my swimming and still function afterwards.  I'm hoping to be swimming 2 miles a day by the end of the week, and also to not take a day off on Wednesday like I did last week.

I've lost 43 pounds in 7 weeks!  However, my life revolves around food and eating like never before.  It seems all I do is eat, or plan eating, or recover from eating...I know it will get easier as it goes.  Yesterday the hubby and I went out to eat for the first time, and were both shocked at what it was like...we sat there mostly talking and sipping, and very little time eating.  He has been dieting and exercising as well, and the volume of food he can eat has also decreased drastically.  We went to Skyline, and I got a chili bowl, and ate about 3 bites then asked for a box.  He got about a third of the way through a chili black bean and rice burrito.  It was odd to be eating in public.

I did finally find a protein shake I can drink, and whlie I still don't find it to be anywhere close to an enjoyable experience, I can choke it down without any gagging or throwing up...thank you GNC Total Lean Shake.  I get the ready to drink, b/c I am not a fan of any texture in my drinks, but I considered trying the packets they had...until I looked at the nutritional info and saw that the RTD has 25g protein in a 14 oz bottle, but you have to put 2 scoops of the powder in 8 oz of milk to get 9g?  It's worth the extra 70 cents to get the RTD...

I'll be posting pics in a bit.  Hope everyone has a great week!
