Thoughts at one month out

Dec 26, 2009

December 18 was the one month mark.  Lost 16 pounds.  Since 13 was in the first week, that makes only one pound a week for each of the last three weeks.  It’s pretty astounding considering the small, small amounts I’m eating (like 1/2 can of tuna with a 1/2 teaspoon/ of mayo and a couple tablespoons of plain yogurt and some capers mixed in for lunch).  Not to mention, only drinking things for the first two weeks.  I hate to be discouraged, but considering most people I’ve talked to about it lost 30+ in the first month, it’s disappointing.  I honestly couldn’t be trying harder or sticking to the guidelines more.

The doctor did graduate me to soft vegetables now.  Apparently, I need the fiber, bad.  I won’t go into details and I’m not in any pain, but my body’s not cooperating as it should be.  Vegetables actually sound good.  I had tofu and spinach last night and it was really good.  Just frozen spinach with some apple cider vinegar and tofu marinated in some Trader Joe’s marinade and some soy sauce and pan-fried in a non-stick pan with a spray of the olive oil.  Von’s has these packages of extra firm organic tofu that you can cut into 5 servings.  I had to make something different because I’m really tired of fish.  The meal only has about 9 grams of protein though.

My protein was fine.  I can’t believe I’m eating 100 grams of protein a day as directed and that my protein level was within 2 points of being too low.  I don’t know how people with other doctors that only require 60 grams are getting enough.  100 is incredibly difficult to achieve.  I hate drinking the protein drinks, but there’s really no other way.
