Surgeon Testimonial

D. Blaine Nease, M.D. F.A.C.S.
I attended Dr. Nease's seminar about 2 mos prior to my actual scheduling of surgery. I was overwhelmed by his seminar, not because of all the info he gives you, but how open and sincere he was. He was so open with us and I am not use to this with a normal size person when dealing with obese individuals.

Dr. Nease shows you slides of his family. His Father died from complications as a resulf of morbid obesity and this is why Dr. Nease is a bariatric surgeon. The information that Dr. Nease relays to you at his seminar is not only professional, but hearfelt. He knows where we are coming from.

My surgery was on 7/19/02, I had lap RNY and had an uneventful surgery. I had surgery on a Thursday and was relased from the hospital on Sunday. I was up walking the same day as surgery, which Dr. Nease stresses to us! He says that he offers the surgery and support, but you have to do your part too. I was back to work within one week of surgery. I have lost a total of 120 lbs to date. I have had no complications whatsoever.

I would highly recommend Dr. Nease! I always wanted to be a jogger and I am running 5K in August. I owe everything I have accomplished to Dr. Nease and his staff. He is so caring, compassionate and supportive of all his patients. You are just not another patient to him, but a human being.

What I've been up to...
on July 16, 2011 7:50 pm
Well, I haven't been on here for about 3 years.  I've had ALOT going on!!!  I'll try to shorthand it. I think I have posted before but I'll address it again. Since having bypass, I dont absorb iron like I should.  I guess I fall into that 5% this happens to. I always knew I was special! Lol. I laugh about it because I've shed too many tears to keep whining over it.  I became seriously ill because my hemoglobin dropped to 5 and my ferritin was less than 1.  That was the worst time.  Other times I had it drop to like 7, 8 & 9.  I had became used to just being weak, confused, depressed and just all around crappy.  I forgot what "normal" was.  So, the last time it dropped to 5 I was hospitalized for another blood transfusion. (I've gotten several over the last couple years due to the iron issue.)  But, God graced me with an amazing hematologist, Dr. Ganapathy Krishnan.  For the last year, I haven't had to receive ANY blood!!! AND I even had a baby!!! I am doing well with getting iron infusions to delay the transfusions.  I have to do this the rest of my life.  I can't lie, it totally crushed me when I was told that.  It just made me feel like a 'sick' person.  It was a tough time for me, but I have made peace with it.  I have FINALLY found a product ("Body by Vi", love it so much that I became a distributor) that tastes amazing and gives me the nutrients that I could not get bc I couldn't eat that much.  With it, I don't even wanna eat bc it's delicious & fills me up with all the good stuff that I have been missing since 2002. YIPPEE!!!  And since I am feeling better now, I have even opened a new business "Artemis Medical Insurance Specialty Firm."  I believe in GBS so much that I started this company to help patients that have been denied by their insurance companies.  We navigate the murky waters of denials and appeals because most patients dont know where to start & alot of physician's staff members don't care enough to put in the effort needed to push these things through.  I KNOW what it's like to want this surgery, so I work hard for each client like it's for me or my family.  I also work on claims denials for back surgeries as well.  Well, I've tried to get in as much info about myself as possible without being boring! Lol. It's nice to be back!!!

My Story

I have been overweight since childhood.  I didn't realize it until about a year ago, I am an emotional eater.  I was raised in a home with an alcoholic father & I guess eating was one of my coping mechanisms.  When I got older & studied about chakra points & alternative healing, it became crystal clear to me why I was fat.  We have chakra points throughout our body.  They run right down the center from our crown to our tailbone.  They are believed to be how energy flows through us from our Creator.  When we are having emotional issues, we cut that energy flow off.  In essence, that energy flow is like our soul.  We protect that beautiful part of ourselves by piling layers & layers of fat upon our body.  That overupholstering literally pushes others away from us. I sure remember how difficult it was for a romantic partner to try to get his arms around me!!! For me, fat was safe.  By the time that I opened myself up enough to understand alternative healing, I was 30yrs old & almost 300 pounds! My weight was out of control & my knees were killing me! I couldn't even breath if I walked a 1/4 of a mile!!! So, gastric bypass was the only solution that I could imagine could help me.  God blessed me with a wonderful surgeon, Dr. Blaine Nease.  As you can read in my blog, I have had some significant issues since WLS. But, the + far outweighs the -. I'd do it again without question.  It has brought so many opportunities into my life.  I have had to work on finding a "safe" way to be smaller, emotionally.  And, physically, WLS gave me the boost I needed to align my body with my expanding emotional awareness.  I am truly blessed.

Please read my blog for information on my new company that I formed to help gastric bypass patients get through the appeals process. AND...if you are gagging down gross protein shakes...go to my web address:  meadows.bodybyvi.com .  I have also come across the most amazing nutritional supplement/weightless shakes EVER!!! I love them so much that I became an Independent Distributor for the company.  I LOVE MY LIFE!!! I get to help people who have the same issues that I have had.  It is so rewarding to be able to help someone out who is soooo desperately wanting to make HUGE positive changes in their lives.  KUDOS TO YOU ALL!!!
