Hi. I have been researching wls quite intensely for a couple of months now. I have finally decided what I feel is the best one for me; VSG. I feel such relief now that I can move ahead with this. Actually, two years ago I met with a surgeon here in Chile and he was pushing for me to have surgery (so was every doctor I met with here; for whatever health reason it was I was seeing him/her for, at the end they would bring up my weight and suggest surgery). I was so frightened of the idea of any type of wls and still in the mindset at the time, that I could/should be able to lose the weight myself (as I had done in the past, but only regained more), that I completely refused to consider it.
Well, during that time from seeing the surgeon originally in 2007, I lost around 38 kgs (about 80 lbs) in about 8 months,  but have since regained it all back. and then some.
I now realize I need help, cannot do it on my own, and need the vsg tool to assist me so I can commence my new journey toward a healthy life, free of this weight.
I feel so thankful to the OH site for all the insightful information I have received from many people who have helped me make this decision.

Question re: eating out after surgery?
on December 31, 2008 6:36 pm
What do people do after surgery when invited to someone's home for dinner? Do you tell the hosts and ask for a very small portion? I guess it depends at what stage after surgery you are? What do most of you do? Grateful for your comments and input.

Anyone out there in Chile?
on December 31, 2008 5:20 pm
Hi all. I have just signed up to OH. Did not know you were out there, but am so glad to have found you! I am seriously considering gastric bypass surgery. Have an appt. with a surgeon in a few weeks. It was proposed to me about 2 years ago and at that time I immediately said no. I thought I could conquer this on my own...Here I am two years later and well I thought I was dealing with my addiction but....
I do have questions and fears about the surgery, and life afterward. But am finding this site to be very informative.
Hay alguien o en Chile o en sudamerica que ha hecho esta cirugia? Me encantarķa hablar con usted.
I know people go to Mexico for this type of surgery, but how about Chile?
I have so many questions to ask, but will just say hello to everyone for now and Happy New Year to all! JB
