I have lost a total of 74 lbs - 35 more to go before I reach my goal.  My one year anniversary will be on July 31.   I am proud of all that I have accomplished and hope to continue this journey with such great progress despite all that I have been through.  Hopefully by December, I will have reach my ultimate goal 160 lbs and a size 11/12.

April 8- Update
on April 9, 2008 12:41 pm
I have not been on the board for a while but I am making progress in terms of weight loss.  I am now in a size 16 clothing down from size 22/24.  And have lost 59 lbs.
On the down side, I lost my spouse of 18 years to a heart attack on March 14th.  RIP-Garner.  I will continue my journey as he would want me too - hold my head up and shoot for the stars*****.

February 7th - Unfill
on February 7, 2008 12:23 pm
Today I went in to get some of my saline remove after being miserable for the last 3 weeks and was not able to eat anything and when I say nothing I do mean nothing,  I have basically been on a liquid diet for the last 3 weeks.  I asked Dr. Mejias for a slight unfill.  He removed .5 ccs so now I have 1.5 ccs in my 4 ccs band.
The good part is that  I have lost 9 lbs since my visit 3 weeks ago.  I felt instant relief.

My Story

I have been researching weight loss surgery about a year now.  I considered Gastric Bypass but thought that it was a little to much for me.  After hearing that a couple of people that works for the county had the lap band procedure, I decided to speak with them personally to see what they had to say.  I then decided to attend Dr. Mejias weight loss seminar.
March 13- Attended seminar.
March 16- Completed package and took it to Dr. Mejias office.
This was the start of all of my appointments.
Pre-Op Visits
March 27 - Go physical and letter from Primary care physican
April 3 - Upper GI
April 5-  Pre- Sleep clinic appointment
April 26- Nutrionist viist
April 30- Phys
May 3 - Sleep Clinic
May 5- Dr.  Mejias

Paperwork was submitted to insurance company on May 21.
Approved June 11.

Surgery date July 31st.

SEPTEMBER 14TH
I had my first fill today.  Liquid diets for the next 2 days.   .5 cc in my 4 cc band.  Dr. Mejias says that I may or may not get
some restriction but I am scheduled for my second fill on Oct 15th.  I have lost a total of 24 lbs- 5 of those was pre-op.
I have now joined an aerobics class and hope that this will help jump start my weight loss.  I did not gain or lose anything in between the last 3 weeks but I know that the first 6 weeks after surgery is for healing.  So those 19 lbs are a bonus.
I am also down one clothing size- use to wear 22/24 now I am wearing 18/20.
