First WLS Seminar

In February 2012, I went to an Atlanta Medical Center Bariatric Surgery info session.  I liked what I heard and set an appointment with the Doctor that gave the seminar.  When I got to his office, I learned that he requires a minimum of $1500 down payment to cover the portion of the surgery that insurance companies don't pay since insurance companies get to pay a reduced amount.  I am not rich by any means, and coming up with that much money at once would be hard.

I was told by several people that they never heard of this and that I should find another doctor.

A co-worker of mine (same insurance of course) had his WLS in April and already lost over 70 lbs by June 1.  He said he didn't have to come up with a large sum for his doctor and that gave me the evidence I needed to go back to a surgeon who I used in the past for my gallbladder removal for the surgery.

My first consulation will be Thursday 6/14/12 and hopefully I can get on track with a smooth transition.
