What the heck?
on October 28, 2007 7:52 pm
Nothing much new to report except that I've lost more than 95# total. It's been a while now. Today I wore a Size Small Top (Sz 6/8) with Medium pants. I'm pretty pleased with my LapBand. I haven't counted a calorie, counted a carb, or even bothered to take my new bathroom scale out of the package.
I never thought I could live in a house with a scale and not weigh myself every day. But it's true. On my most recent follow-up visit with my doctor the scale showed more than 95# lost. I was 80-85# overweight and was hoping to lose 70-75#. My surgeon just told me how proud he was - all the office staff complimented me and even the insurance biller came from the back office to see how I looked.
It's nice to wear smaller sizes, to grab great deals (the tiny sizes are always on the clearance rack, aren't they?) and just live life as an average sized (even a bit smaller than average0 person.
It's a great feeling.

Ten Pounds Below Goal ! It's A Fact!
on June 10, 2007 2:56 pm

Well it's official. I am (as of this writing) about 10 pounds  *below* my goal weight.
I am a Size 8 Tall (sometimes a Sz 6, depending on the brand) which is below my goal. I am thrilled (knock wood) with my band. I lost weight so slowly that many people can believe I've lost 90#. But it's true.

So far, I have done more than I ever expected. I can wear sizes that I never thought I'd see. I can make friends with the sale rack - in my sizes, I can find great deals.

Almost 90 pounds lost, and I never missed a Happy Hour. People look at me and think I've never been fat.

At this minute, I am absolutely thrilled.

The Size of My "Back End" - Takes a Back Seat
on October 15, 2006 9:15 pm

Funny how things in life that seemed majorly important (my weight being the most apt example) take a back seat when a real life issue takes precedence.

Things in my life have been so different that this is one of the longest periods of time I've gone without weighing myself, worrying about my weight or focusing on how I look.

But tomorrow, I'm back on the game. I start making telephone calls & making Plastic Surgery consult appointments ASAP.  I have got to get back focused on getting my body to be the best it can be.

Life's too short, especially for a single girl who's all by herself in the world.

New York, New York!
on October 1, 2006 12:00 am

Just got back from fabulous trip to New York City. Saw lots of folks I hadn't seen in long time. Hey, so I must admit - I'm looking pretty darn good.
New York had beautiful weather - sunny and bright, not an inch of rain all week. Meanwhile, I did so much exercise while in NYC.
It was all the walking, shopping, apartment shopping (with my sister) and THE STAIRS. There is so much stair climbing in NYC. Even getting in and out of the subway means at least 2 to 3 flights of stairs each time you enter and exit.

And man do my thighs feel "the burn.' Wow - that city is like one big StairMaster! :-) But I love it.

Back home, I feel firmer but doubt I've lost scale weight. (Muscle weighs more than fat anyway, right?) Oh my doctor thinks I'm probably hovering around or near goal weight. I dunno, we'll see at my next appointment. Overall, on me, I think a BMI of 25 would be fabulous. I really will look much slimmer than that BMI chart could ever show.

This has always been one of my favorite songs.
I recommended the song to a friend of mine who was trying to justify having WLS surgery and I think it fits, especially the part about lost confidence.
(Hear a MIDI version of it by clicking
here.

"Breakout" by Swing Out Sister
When explanations make no sense
When every answer's wrong
You're fighting with lost confidence
All expectations gone

The time has come to make or break
Move on, don't hesitate

BREAKOUT

(CHORUS:)

Don't stop to ask
Now you've found a break to make at last
You've got to find a way say what you want to say

BREAKOUT

When situations never change
Tomorrow looks unsure
Don't leave your destiny to chance
What are you waiting for?
The time has come to make or break

BREAKOUT

Don't stop to ask
Now you've found a break to make at last
You've got to find a way say what you want to say

BREAKOUT

Some people stop at nothing
If you're searching for something
Lay down the law, shout out for more
Break Out and shout, day in, day out

BREAKOUT
( Repeat Chorus )
