Surgery has been
postponed.... did
my preop to find out
there is something
irregular with my
ticker (heart).
Needless to say
everything is on
hold until Tuesday,
I need to see a
cardiologist and get
his/her okay before
the Dr. will do the
surgery. Needless
to say, I'm
bummed!!
Oh, I did find out
Angels are
volunteers, who may
come see you at the
hospital and answer
any questions you
may have.

On the path to a new, healthier ME!!!

Bummed!! on May 24, 2008 4:39 pm
So, all was going great. Went to the Dr. on Thursday for all of the pre-op information they give you. Sat there from 8:40am until 2:30pm...went over to OCRA (hosiptal) checked in...saw the nurses (who were all fabulous!!), did my chest x-rays, blood work, blood pressure, urine, and the EKG. Well,
comes to find out every third beat of my heart is off....so I have What the EKG said "Supraventricular trigeminy". Irregular heartbeat, and the Dr. will not do the surgery until a cardiologist runs some test and gives the ok.
I'm bummed to say the least, a new future was right there in my fingertips, and now it's all on hold again...hopefully, i"ll get an ok to move forward!!??
What kind of makes me mad though...is my heart beat has always been like this!... the nurse heard my heartbeat in March, and my PCM heard it in April, but, neither said anything further about it, other than to tell me the rhythm. It was in my notes, while at the visit, it was the doctor and the EKG who have it being an issue now. Why wasn't it looked at previously if it was going to be a questionable thing??! I know the doctor is doing his job, and wants to be sure I'm healthy and all...i understand all of that...it just does not help with me being upset about it all.
OH well, I'm still pissy about it, but will update again after I know something. I have to find a cardio doc, do their tests, and go from there...
one day maybe....

Quicker than I thought! on May 19, 2008 10:12 am
I started this path the beginning of March 2008. I went to Ocala on Friday the 14th of March for my educational consult, and the first weigh in.
Completed blood work the first time around on the 18th of March. I was told on the 21st of March I had high cholestrol, and on April 11th I completed my ultrasound. I originally had a psych. appt. for the 14th of April, only to find out my insurance did not cover it at that office. So I rescheduled for the 28th of April, and my nutrionist phone consult on the 29th of April.
We are now at the 19th of May 2008 and all of my tests are complete, of course the insurance has already approved it all, and the doctors office has all of my test results! THIS Thursday, 22nd of May is my pre-op and surgery is scheduled for Tuesday the 27th of May 2008.
I'm very excited, seeing all the before and after pictures and hoping and praying mine will turn out all good too! I walk by stores in the mall, and think to myself...soon.... Most of all though, I'm looking forward to running around the yard with my kids, running up the stairs (14 of them), going on bike rides, and hikes with my two boys and my hubby!
At the same time I'm excited...I'm also getting nervous! All of the unknown, and not really sure what to be expecting...so wish me luck!

My Story
I am a mother of 2 boys, and a proud wife of an active duty member.
I was a "normal" child, and started to be overweight in my jr. high years of school (unhappy to say the least).
Grades 7th & 8th were hard...but 9th grade I was big @ a size 18. By the time I hit 10th grade and my 3rd high school, I was a 20 in size. Then, things changed a little, I was put into physical ed full time the entire year...by my senior year I was a size 7/9. Great last year of school. That was in 1993. I met my hubby in Dec of 93. married in Feb 95, moved to California in Oct 95. Slowly started to gain weight back...and more....I was well over 200 by the time I was pregnant with my first ...then I gained 63lbs. (July 98)...and not much of it went away, even with the breast feeding for a year. The weight stayed. Even though I tried Weight Watchers several times, curves, doctor prescriptions, professional trainer (that was some $$$ down the drain)...the most I ever lost at one time was 43 lbs.
Then in 2003, I was pregnant again, with my second born in March 2004. I actually LOST weight during this pregnancy, but was well over being just obese. Both pregnancies were great, and I have two beautiful, happy, healthy boys who are loved with all my heart! Now, I just want to be able to do more with them!!
Between moves, lack of jobs, going to school full time, and all the separations due to remotes/tdys/etc...I just plateau out now and can't seem to get below the 270 mark!
Fast Forward a little more: starting the liquid diet/atkins type for meals: I've lost 14lbs, so I am happy thus far. WLS is coming up...anxious/excited and nervous all at the same time.
