Surgeon TestimonialMuhammad A. Jawad, M.D.First impression of the staff and all of their help and information was OUT of this World!!rnVery friendy, helpful, informative, and patient with all the questions! rnMet Dr. Jawad for the first time in May...for the pre-op day, very helpful, and doesn't miss a thing! I wasn't too happy he was concerned about the ticking of my heart at first, but knew he was doing what was best! I hated the thought of post-poning my surgery....BUT...HE is the DOCTOR!!! NOT me!! rnI'll be seeing the staff and my Dr. on Thursday..for the pre-op day again...and am anxious to see them all. AGAIN, all are GREAT People, and ROBERT has been a HUGE help with all the letters needed for my hubby for work!!!

2 yrs post-op + on October 7, 2010 10:31 pm
August 27th was my 2 yr date.... it's now October 7th... I'm still going strong!
I work out every morning now at the gym... which has increased muscle, and I'm averaging between 150-154 for the past 6 months. it's amazing how much I can run outside (1.5 miles my first try!!! ) I can go easily on a treadmill/eliptypical for a good 30 mins or longer... and still put in those crunches, lower body or upper body workout too.
I"m between a size 4 or 6 in women's depending on the brand.... and a 7/9 in Juniors. LIFE IS GREAT!
We are back in Alaska!!! I'm sooo excited to try out new things! A lot of folks who knew me before don't even recognize me!!

9 months out... on May 27, 2009 11:05 am
OK... so I went to see Dr. Jawad yesterday ( May 26, 2009). Actually I ended up seeins Sandra, but she's always a hoot to see! All labs came back great, everything is looking great..... and I was told she doesn't want me to loose any more weight!
That's a first!!!!
I weighed in at 144.8lbs... and 96% body fat lost! My BMI is 22.7%
I was happy at a size 14, then 12, then 10's... thought I would stop at size 8 ( bought a bunch of clothes!!!), but then went down to a 6! Now the 6's are baggy, and I'm currently buying a size 4 !!!! I NEVER thought I'd see this day...and the whole concept of taking a bath is great..... NOT when you sit on your tail bone it isn't all that much fun!!!!
I had problems buying clothes before, now I'm having the same issues...which is weird. BUT it's still sooo much fun!
I still don't see myself as being little... even though I know what a size 4 looks like.... and people call me skinny.... but mentally I just don't see it. I think my legs are still huge!
the lack of boobs...there's another story all together... 44DD to a current 34c/d... is a bit depressing...and they look horrible!!!
So, I will be looking at getting those fixed!
I haven't had any dumping since December...so that's been a huge plus! I do have days though when my "big girl" wins...and I try some ice cream or something too sweet, and feel lousy for a while afterwards.
I'll take some pics later in the week and post them up for ya'll to see. I know I loved seeing all the pics when I first started this.
I can't say I have a typical day of food...
Mostly:
piece of toast , 2% milk, and banana for breakfast
lunch: meat, grain, veggies
dinner: meat, veggies, etc...
I snack through out the day.... carrots, peppers, fruit, even a few chips here and there.
OH...I throw in one to two protein bars a day too ( 20-22g each!!, they're the snickers' ones from Wal-Mart, my favorite is the caramel one).
I drink mostly propel water, crystal light, and unsweetened iced tea.
I take 2 flintstone vitamins, 2 tums, and a multi-vitamin daily(centrium silver, chewables still) ( one flintstone, 1 tums in the am, the rest around noon), I then take an iron supplement every 2-3 days, and I get a B12 injection (shot) monthly.
Feel free to email me if you need a friend !!

I'm a slacker!! on March 17, 2009 5:59 pm
OK...I'm really bad.... I know! My 6months post op was Feb 25, 2009... and I don't even remember what I weighed in at!
I know I wrote it down somewhere!! Hubby came on March 4th...so things have been a constant blur since then. I lost 70lbs alone just while he was gone (6months). This morning I weighed in at 156lbs...that is 98lbs down since pre op day, and 120 lbs down since my highest weight. I was in sizes 22 and an occasional 24.... and am currently wearing 8's!!!!! It's crazy!!
I'm still at a loss as to bra sizes...was 44DD...now 38D/C...???? I really couldn't tell ya...but I know they definately went SOUTH!!! I think that's the biggest thing bothering me as far as what I can see.
Not sure if its normal or not...but I don't feel as small as everyone says I am. I still see me... my big legs especially. I KNOW I'm smaller, I see it when I look in the mirror...but seeing me as small as everyone else...I just don't.
My hubby did say though he didn't really recognize me when I went up to met him... he was in total shock, and is still afraid he might break me. He's ecstatic that he can now pick me up...and toss me around .... not to metion carry me too. It was really cool and fun at first...now, I'm not too sure! :-)
OK... so this was my latest update.. I hope everyone else is doing great too!! My next appt. isn't unitl May 26th... so we'll see.
Hugs to all !!!

My Story
I am a mother of 2 boys, and a proud wife of an active duty member.
I was a "normal" child, and started to be overweight in my jr. high years of school (unhappy to say the least).
Grades 7th & 8th were hard...but 9th grade I was big @ a size 18. By the time I hit 10th grade and my 3rd high school, I was a 20 in size. Then, things changed a little, I was put into physical ed full time the entire year...by my senior year I was a size 7/9. Great last year of school. That was in 1993. I met my hubby in Dec of 93. married in Feb 95, moved to California in Oct 95. Slowly started to gain weight back...and more....I was well over 200 by the time I was pregnant with my first ...then I gained 63lbs. (July 98)...and not much of it went away, even with the breast feeding for a year. The weight stayed. Even though I tried Weight Watchers several times, curves, doctor prescriptions, professional trainer (that was some $$$ down the drain)...the most I ever lost at one time was 43 lbs.
Then in 2003, I was pregnant again, with my second born in March 2004. I actually LOST weight during this pregnancy, but was well over being just obese. Both pregnancies were great, and I have two beautiful, happy, healthy boys who are loved with all my heart! Now, I just want to be able to do more with them!!
Between moves, lack of jobs, going to school full time, and all the separations due to remotes/tdys/etc...I just plateau out now and can't seem to get below the 270 mark!
Fast Forward a little more: starting the liquid diet/atkins type for meals: I've lost 14lbs, so I am happy thus far. WLS is coming up...anxious/excited and nervous all at the same time.
