My weightloss diary

Aug 20, 2014

My surgery was on June 10, 2014. What a scary, exciting day. My surgery went very smoothly and my Dr was great. Now that I am 9 weeks post op I am looking to record my food challenges and history.

Before the surgery it was rough medically. Being Type 1 there were many challenges and prior to the surgery and becoming resistant to insulin was the biggest challenge. So this surgery is a life saver. It was explained to me that the resistance would cease, but I would still require insulin just a heck of a lot less. About two weeks after the surgery, results were happening. My blood sugars were finally lowering and it was awesome to get to have my insulin pump adjusted. Keep in mind that being diligent and checking BS are of a huge priority so that blood sugars would not go to low.

So far the results are amazing! I am taking maybe 30 units a day...of course that is basal, or for persons who are taking a shot for long acting would understand. As far as short acting, well since there are not a lot of cards or portions sizes, I maybe adjust once or twice a day. Usually when I eat beans of any sort with a meal.

There are no regrets. I am glad that this surgery was preformed. When there are not a lot of options, this was perfect and now I am feeling much better and losing weight to.
