Hit a little roadblock at my consult today...sigh

Mar 23, 2010

Well i went in for my initial consult with Dr. Shina.  It all went really well, he is very informative, if a bit brisk but right on point.  I like him so that's enough.  Got weighted and went over medical history, unfortunetly today my BP decided to be PERFECT instead of up a bit...sigh...no other real Como's either, meaning i have to make the weight requirements for Tricare.  Well they weighed me in at 273.8 with an ideal body weight of 142 making me 130lbs over weight and a BMI of 42...yipee...ugghh...Then talked to the insurance lady and ROAD BLOCK...Apparently they are telling me that Tricare will require a 6mo supervised weight/diet managment before even CONSIDERING the surgery...sigh...and there is a $300.00 fee to Norton Surburban Hospital for the psych eval and dietician (they do not accept tricare only my surgeon does) and the use fo the bariatric center...SUCKY...but hey i can come up with the $300 not even worried about that!  The Cardiologist exam and the Pulmonologist exam i can have done on the military base as well as all my labs and have them faxed so that is okay too!  I was just really hoping to have this surgery done by July when my students are out on summer break, then even though i'd have to take time off work, it wouldnt affect them or my familiy as it will if i have to take off during the training sessions...uggghhh...and one last roadblock...if i lose more than 25lbs i will no longer qualify for the surgery...nice huh...it's like darned if i do and darned if i dont!

My first appt with the nutritionist is tomorrow, so at least i'm on the right path...i'm so sick of dieting and losing, then regaining, i'm so tired of being fat and unhappy, i'm just so tired!  sorry to vent!  hopefully i'll have better news later....
