Three Years Out: Reflections

Jun 06, 2013

Here is my 3 year post on the boards:

My summary is not my best work for sure.  The DS does not consume all of my attention and thoughts anymore.  Right now, I need to get some blood work:  other than that, it is business as usual.

First off, let me say THANK YOU, JESUS, for allowing me to even see three years out!  None of those days or years were promised to me, yet I have been blessed to see then.

Next, LORD, THANK YOU for recovery!  Yes, I have been through a bit with this surgery, but that's how it seems to go with me.  A little challenge, a little stretch.  Nothing was impossible with God, and nothing insurmountable due to His grace and mercy toward me.

Thirdly, I am SO VERY GLAD TO BE BELOW GOAL!  So many people are still struggling with their weight.  They either didn't make goal, or are still in plus sizes, or are still obese...that is tough.  I am super skinny, and I have to admit that I love it!  My body still looks foreign to me, but at least I know that this surgery is doing its job.

Fourthly, I AM GLAD THAT I CAN EAT!  For a while there, life was nausea, vomiting and malnutrition.  No more!  I can enjoy food normally.  Yes, I have acid reflux, but I'm in my 40's and was likely to develop some along the way.  Being "normal" is great.

Lastly, I am grateful for good medical insurance and great medical caregivers.  This is not an easy surgery or journey, and I'm glad to have support.

Speaking of support...I have mostly left this board, and begun posting in the Facebook group.  It is more convenient for me, and more private than here.  I feel bad about not supporting newbies as much as I should, but each of us has to do what she feels is best for herself.

OK, I'm off.  I have to work and minister today.  Hallelujah!
