Getting ready...

Feb 11, 2011

I have all my appointments lined up and have arranged for time off work, switched work shifts with co-workers and set reminders on my cell phone for the dates I have important pre-op "stuff to do"!  I have a weigh-in & 4 hour pre-op seminar at the hospital on February 24th.  My pre-op consultation is March 16th and I need to get my pre-op labs done 2 days later.  After that, next stop should be the O/R!  In the meantime, I have been seeing a nutricianist at my G/P's office for weight control since November, 2010.  My weight has gone down a little bit after going to a high of 277.  I recently completed a series of 3 Euflexin injections in my right knee, which makes walking a little easier...I have walked alittle, but shoes are not comfortable, so really need to find a pair I can REALLY walk in.  I have Shape-ups (they cause more cramps in my thigh muscles), and most shoes are too narrow to accommodate my wide feet...I've even tried men's shoes, but they are no more comfy than women's.  The other "biggie" is that I am changing from oral Methotrexate to injectible...I started self injections this week, and will continue until Dr. Yadegar says I can take the oral type again, which will be at least 6 weeks post-op, I'm guessing.  (Methotrexate is a once weekly medication, not daily like Insulin)
