After weighing my options, and looking at the wait times in my province, I decided to pay for the surgery myself. I contacted Debra Simons of Weight No More Consulting and she arranged everything for me. My surgeon was Dr. Jaime Ponce De Leon, and my surgery was performed at the INT hospital in Tijuana Mexico.On July 24th 2012 I flew out of Halifax, NS to Newark NJ and then onto San Diego where I met my driver that Debra had set up for me, her name is Marla. Marla took me to the INT hospital where we met Dr. Eulices Frayre. Dr. Frayre took me to my room, explained what I had to look forward to and then he told me I was going to have my surgery in an hour and a half. I sent a text to my family to let them know how soon I would be going in and I would probably be unavailable for the next 24 hours (hahaha). At 1:30 I met my surgical team and was given a shot of "Tequila" haha then I was taken into the operating room and was given a shot of "Scotch" and that is the last thing I remember before surgery.
The surgical team were fantastic and comical, they put me at ease and I knew I was in good hands. After surgery Dr. Frayre checked in on me and explained that everything went well. The nurses were very friendly and checked on me quite often. Dr. Frayre was in to see me everyday until I was discharged from the hospital and taken to the beautiful Lucerna Hotel just a block away. That evening I went down to the restaurant and ordered the chicken broth. The waiter brought me the broth plus a Popsicle, it was the best icicle I have ever had.
Friday morning Marla picked me up and took me to the San Diego Airport and I went home.
