1lb below goal !

Apr 29, 2011

Yeah - I made my goal today and then an additional pound !!! - WOW 13 3/4 months since my VSG and I'm at my goal !

I am 1lb below my goal weight of 170lbs meaning I am exactly 130lbs down since surgery.  I wasn't expecting a loss today as I'm 5 days out from plastic surgery and thought I would still be a) full of fluids from the IV and b) swollen and full of fluids.  WOW - I fully expect the scale to jump around a bit now though as I move through a stage of swelling/healing etc.

Surgery recovery wise I'm doing ok - I have days of medium energy and days of zero energy which I guess is to be expected.

I'm finding it a challenge to get in enough nutrition as I still have huge restriction on my sleeve - so little and often is my eating plan of choice.  I'm allowing myself to have more carbs as I think this helps as well as protein.  I'm also on quite a heavy tablet routine with antibibiotics, NSAID's, Iron, Vit C and Painkillers to manage on top of food - so my little sleeve is feeling full !  On top of that inbetween me and my compression garment is a good inch or so of thick foam packing which is protecting my tummy and helping with the swelling, but also putting extra pressure on my sleeve and abdomen - it's uncomfortable more than anything else - and I feel like a female version of the Mitchelin man !

I'm allowed my first shower today - am looking forward to seeing my results without dressings, to getting to feel clean and to not having the compression garment on - but know that it needs to go back on immediately after the shower so it will be a short relief - just hope that hubby and I can manoeuvre me in it again without me collapsing with the giggles - as that hurts at the moment !

Hubby goes back to work tomorrow so I'll be on my own for the day - I think I'll be ok - just need to get him to remember to do a few little things for me to make sure I can reach the coffee mugs, things in the fridge etc.  Am not allowed to lift anything heavy yet or stand up straight which is challenging - but means that I have to do things slowly and with intention.  Could really do with a grabber kind of thing as I keep dropping things and then have to leave them on the floor - typical - just when you don't need to be clumsy - I get clumsy !

Oh well, off for another nap as I need to build up my strength for my shower.

Loving my sleeve and "Dr Hottie" - my cosmetic surgeon !
