Hey Anna Marie I know exactly what you mean about not feeling like you have lost as much weight as other in the same amount of time, I too have felt that. I'm the third of four people at my office that has had WLS so I've got alot of personal comparing to do plus everyone on the board. I've decided that my body is going to lose at it's own pace and I'm now happy with the loss whatever it may be. I had my surgery 6-30-03 and I'm -54lbs one day and -50 lbs for the next two or three days. I'm trying not to get hung up on the scales, however I bought a set this week lol. What we must remember is that larger people usually lose more weight at first....so pay close attention at the starting weight if you must compare weight loss. Good Luck Lesa, your Alabama sister.

Anne Marie, First of all, no it is not normal to be constipated for 1-2 weeks. Second of all, if you cannot keep water down, you need to see your surgeon IMMEDIATELY. It would explain for the most part your constipation, you are probably dehydrated. You also probably have a stricture, which needs to be stretched through a simple procedure called endoscopy. It's normal to vomit occasionally during the first 2-3 months post-op, because you are re-learning how much you can eat, how to chew things really thoroughly, and you will overdo at times until you get used to your new tummy. But vomiting everytime you eat is indicative of a stricture, especially if you can't even keep liquids down. Call your doctor immediately and tell him you will not wait. Good luck.
