Update on Karen: I called her today, and she sounded much better when she answered the phone. They finally took the catheter out and she made "progress" on her own. Yippee! She was not in as much pain anymore, just here & there. She had been walking, but had not showered as of this afternoon yet, so should have felt much better after that. They were planning on letting her go home tonight, so that was good. She said she was amazed that she had no desire for food after 4 days without it. Just liquids. She complained of the metal taste of water, but that will go away when her body comes out of ketosis. I remember that, but it eventually went away. She was concerned about going home & trying to sleep in her bed. She has a recliner that is downstairs, and the bed is upstairs, so guess where she will probably sleep tonight! Anyway, she is doing much better in spirits too and will be fine. We talked for awile. After today, we will have to wait until she posts, since I don't have her number at home. She will have family with her or be with family while her hubby is working, so when she can manage to sit at the computer for a minute, hopefully we will hear that she is doing great! Thanks for everyone's support, I am sure she appreciates it.

Angel here reporting on Karen. She had hoped to go home today, but is still experiencing pain & is still catheterized. She said she does have a pump, but is on Demerol instead of Morphine. She has been walking more today, but has had to be re-catheterized twice, having same problem I did. She can't go home until after she goes (without the catheter). Hoping for tomorrow. She had a bad headache. She sounds kind of down, so please stop by her surgery page & offer encouragement, I am sure she would really appreciate it. I kind of woke her up when I called around 5:30 this evening, she said she has been in & out. I will update tomorrow as long as they don't send her home before I call! She'll feel better each day now & soon she will be up & going like nothing! AND losing weight too!

Thought I would update you. I just spoke to Karen, she is in some pain & having quite a bit of discomfort. She is having gas also that is causing her discomfort. She has been up and walking some & hopes to go home tomorrow. She had her leak test and has had a little bit of liquids now. That was wonderful she said. Keep her in your thoughts. Will let you know tomorrow if I get to talk to her before she goes home. I don't have her number once she leaves the hospital. She will update us after that!

I just talked to Karen & she is doing FINE! She had some pain earlier, but said it was somewhat better. She has not been up & walking yet, but should be tonight. She is enduring the awful dry mouth/throat this evening, & hoping for an early leak test tomorrow. Her hubby is there with her. She is in room 826. I will update tomorrow afternoon. Way to go Karen!
