Hey April! This is Amy Harris. How are you and Robin? I am so excited for you on deciding to have this surgery. The hard part is the waiting for approval, but DON'T give up. I sent and email but wanted to say again APPEAL. I have Anthem BC/BS ppo (ohio) I have no comorbities (except feet, joint pain) but I do have a family history. My policy says they cover if medicaly nec. Go back to your PCP and surgon and get a copy of that psych eval for yourself. Make them hear you! God bless. Jamie

hello Amos: April just received a denial for her surgery. based on no physicans supervised weight programs for the last 2 yrs. I am at a loss what to do to help her with this. I have the same insurance as her but didn't have to fight a denial. I know many of you have gone through this Please if someone can help her please email her with any suggestions you may have that you feel might have helped you. Please also send her support to uplift her from what she must be feeling at this time. I hate that many have to fight to live and for a better quality of life. Hello AMOS April has asked me to be her angel and I have accepted the honor. I just hope that I can do the job as great as so many others do. This will be my first try at it, Please pray for me LOL!!! Everyone please go to April's surgery page and give her support to get through this waiting game for insurance approval, we all know how hard this time can be. April, I am sure that you will be approved and that one day soon you will see my smiling face at the hospital wishing you well and trying my best to get anything you need. I started with a BMI of 42 and no co-morbities. I have a strong family history and I went into great detail about that. Empire Blue Cross did approve me so I would advise to really be detailed about your family. Good Luck!
