Just got off the phone with Barbie and her mom Jean. Barbie is doing great. Her surgery was very long. 10 hours. Dr Ren told Jean, "Barbie is a big girl but surprisingly her intestines were very small." None of the instruments or stapler would fit. So, everything was hand sewn. Several times during the surgery Dr Ren was just about to quit and open her up and then she thought, "no maybe I can do it this way". She also said that Barbie's abdominal wall was very thick so it made it harder to manipulate the trocars. She did an amazing job. Barbie has 2 drains and they are not draining much. She also has an ng tube (which is not Dr Ren's standard modus operandi) because of the hand sewing she wanted to take no chances. Barbie will not be going to radiology till tomorrow. She is in excellent spirits and using her pain pump when necessary. I think I have covered all the bases. I will post more tomorrow after talking to Barbi.
